We came last year and had an incredible time. So much so, we decided to make the nine hour drive back this year for new years. We were disappointed to say the least. One person is running the ticket counter on one of the busiest weekends of the year. It was a 30 min wait just to pick up lift tickets. Absurd wait time for paying over $100 for a lift ticket. They need to either automate lift ticket pickup or hire more staff. On top of that, the woman at the counter completely mischarged me. Very frustrating. Additionally, this place seems poorly managed now. I have worked in the ski resort industry, and the way they are running their restaurant is almost comical.

Ticketing process was very inefficient, rentals and tickets should be separated so that people who just need tickets can move much faster. We waited more than one hour just to get lift tickets. We used Indy pass to get tickets but apparently the staff was not familiar with the pass redemption process. The computer system was slow and inefficient.Food operations inefficient too, no premade fast food available, only restaurant style food, waited more than one hour for food. One burger $18, similar to big Colorado resorts price but no comparable amenities. Bring your own food if you want to ski here. This place needs significant improvement on management and operations. Terrain and snow are good though!

Great staff- horrible systems. We waited 1.5 hours to pay for very expensive lift tickets even though only 3 runs were open. Food and drinks were great but poor staff was terribly overworked.

My favorite of the two hills @SnowRiver. Love the front parking spots to the left and right of the main lodge. Can ski directly to your auto. I also think the view from the top of the mountain is better. Others disagree with me but it is my review. Can see a large ski jump in the distance.

I’ve been going here for 18 years. Ever since I can remember. With the local deal my price was always around 40$ or so for rentals. Now with the new ownership I paid 120$ for a day of skiing. Absolutely sickening and ridiculous. It’s now a joke and I’ll sadly find another ski resort. This is an EDIT. the owner replied stating there are local Deals still. But let me reply and say that the local area has changed and the prices are still 2x to 3x as high. There is no justifying that. I’m sorry but this isn’t Colorado or the alps. It’s a small hill with 2 lifts working at most if you’re lucky. Definitely not worth anyones time or money

Ride some ungroomed runs and make a few of your own if you want. Perfect off the path slopes between Black River Basin and Jackson Creek what a great value.But.. unless you're a tree seeker, don't expect difficult Black diamond runs, just really fun

Loved the place! Staff were friendly and helpful, snow was great and lifts were surprisingly fast for being semi dated. The ski runs were long compared to other Midwest areas. The cafeteria was very open to sit and have snacks and coffee. Ski runs had a nice mix of beginner, intermediate, and advanced terrain. Wish we would have stayed in the area for longer to hang out in the bar since it was very bright and had a cool space for bands. Plus the art gallery upstairs was fabulous. Truly a hidden gem!

Decent old school ski place. Nice variety of runs. Beware lifts run fast and chairs are close together with a low ceiling. Nice bar for apres ski.

New owners hate winter sports. They are trying to put all the small family business out of business with their latest stunt. Stay away from their 5 tiny ski hills. Go to big power horn instead.

Charles Skinner the Owner of both Indian head and blackjack mountains has said snowmobiling is not a family friendly sport and has decided to single handedly try and destroy local buisness and the economy by shutting down the only in and out snowmobile route in the region. The state had solutions to all of his concerns and he shot them down because this in fact is overall goal. Shame on him. Please support the community by boycotting both of his locations.

Just found out that we have to cancel our yearly trip and hopefully reschedule into a different area because of new ownership at this location refusing to cooperate and allow snowmobile trail access. Further, they’re quoted as saying the don’t believe that snowmobiling is a family sport. Ironic that my family and I are ones impacted by their selfishness. The U.P. Is full of small businesses that have to work together in order to maintain a suitable economy for tourism. Clearly this owner not only doesn’t care, but believes their business is exempt to that cooperation. You’re not only hurting your business, here, but several communities. Snowmobiling, whether you like them or not, is a major economic contributor in your region during several months of the year.

We love to come up to the beautiful north woods! We usually come up to ski a few day and snowmobiles few days, two of our favorite activities… this resort was on the list for us to ski at this year… once we heard they do not support snowmobiling they were instantly taken off the list for this year. We were few disappointed to here the news.

Horrible new ownership who doesn’t care about the local economy. They shut down a snowmobile trail that will negatively affect the west side of the UP. PLEASE do. It give this black your business.

Snow conditions very good for this time of year. No doubt the best ski area bar in this region. Huge deck and the bar overlook some of the front runs. Great setting for relaxing at any time of the day
