Charlie and crew are truly great people. I have been playing and "shuffling" guitars for 35 years. Detroit Guitars and Charlie, have been fantastic to do business with. It is hard to find honest people with integrity in this business. They are definitely one of them. Could not recommend enough!!

Cool store, friendly guys. Lots of high end stuff like Gibson, PRS, Taylor and Fender Custom Shop. Some Squier and mid range stuff as well.

Been playing and buying guitars for about 20 plus years and my most recent purchase experience was by far the best. I have to admit that I was a difficult customer to work with but Detroit Guitar really went above and beyond in providing the best buying experience for me. They will be my go-to shop for my guitars.

Charlie is a great curator of incredible instruments. I've worked with him on two of my guitar purchases, and he's always been a pleasure. More so, the fact that Detroit Guitar has access to instruments you won't find at other stores is a major plus. Charlie has a keen eye for finding the guitars you don't just want to collect but want to play. Also, a note about his staff - not once have I had an issue with them. They've been equally pleasant to work with. I don't think I could recommend Detroit Guitar strongly enough.

I have been to this establishment multiple times and have had to contend with some sort of irritating patronizing comment everytime I've been there. Staff is outwardly confrontational when asked about equipment that the customer isn't familiar with, especially if it is expensive. This I don't understand. I own multiple guitars, and wouldn't have bought any of them without consulting sales staff first about the guitar's history. To find that a frustration is bizarre. My first visit to the store was in June of 21. I asked about an amp facing the window I was unfamiliar with and was met with "Uh.. it's a (insert brand here)??! They're like, really expensive tube amps." which discouraged me from trying it and ultimately led me to question the associate whether or not the item was actually for sale or just display, like a museum. On a later occasion, I had a sales associate tell me in a very impatient tone that the Supro Black Magick was not a signature series amplifier, while a 15 second Google search shows that Jimmy Page's name is literally all over the product description. After this occasion, I have only gone to the store for strings and small items and STILL sales associates are visibly and very obviously irritated when completing sales for these small items. How am I supposed to be comfortable walking into your store and spending $3600 on a Les Paul when you can't be bothered to help me pick from the three brands and gauges of string you offer without grumbling about it? Seems like the focus of this establishment is to substantiate some weird sense of elitism by catering to those that can afford to drop $1000+ on custom shop finishes and collectors run releases at a moments notice, rather than actual providing a comprehensive experience for everyday working musicians.

Had a great experience. Came in close to closing time and got helped out. They were great (especially for a beginner like me) and answered all my questions since alot of this stuff is new to me. One of the employees even played the guitar I was looking at just so I could get a feel for how it sounded since I'm not able to play very much yet. Left same day with a guitar I had been looking at online for quite some time. Definitely prefer the in person help and assistance, would recommend!

Agree that it’s a mixed bag here. The service is hit or miss. I’m also really not a fan of them calling them selves “Detroit guitar“ when they are in the wealthy suburb of Birmingham. If you want to claim the name, be in the city and contribute.

I'm in my 70's. Been playing Gibson's since the middle '60's. The 50's and 60's Gibson's feel and sound 'real' to me. I have a several of them that I bought long ago. Got a super nice '52 no serial but no LP with humbuckers.I bought a Gibson Custom '59 Les Paul Standard Reissue Dirty Lemon Burst Murphy Lab Light Aged from Detroit Guitar. About the same aging as my '59 ES330TD with a similar neck. But the action is quite a bit below what I thought was possible. Sound is similar to my '62 Explorer but both sweeter and harder depending on volume setting. Detroit Guitar told me all that in slightly different ways. The Guitar exceeds what they described. The guitar arrived in perfect condition 2 business days after the order, no issues at all with shipping or packing. As I was told by Andrew at Detroit Guitar, this is truly a superb guitar. The magazines and Gibson are correct. Gibson is making its finest guitars now.The guitar far exceeds my expectations and is quite a bit better than the local 2013 Duane Allman Artist I had been looking at. Even if the Allman was priced at say $6k or $7k and not $17k on Reverb I would have chosen this one.Doing business with Detroit Guitar was smooth, personal and professional.Thank-You Detroit Guitars!

Nice shop. Cool environment. Unfortunately the worker who helped me charged me 101.99 on a pedal that was clearly marked 97.50. I didn't see the price tag til I got home . It's what the guy charged me , before tax . Nice shop but feel kind of ripped off . Over $5. But 5 bucks is 5 bucks .
