I have been a member for many years. DFCU financial has always provided the best service, good interest rates on products (ie. mortgages, CDs), fees are zero (ie. cashiers checks, etc.). And the cash back program is a plus.

I used to frequent this DFCU location simply because it is the closest in proximity to my current residence. Prior to about six months ago I was going to the Dearborn location where I never had any issues. I often use my passport as a form of ID and the branch manager at the Birmingham location went out of his way to make this an issue. He unprofessionally said to me “you still don’t have your ID… ?” as if a passport is not a form of ID. He then proceeded to state that in the near future this branch would no longer accept passports at all. These comments alone tempted to to just completely close out my account, especially considering I also bank with another credit union. Even if the passport is an issue I believe the branch manager could’ve found a better way to address it. Questioning me in the manner that he did and in front of other members and employees was simply disrespectful. Aside from the branch manager, the employees here are amazing and have been nothing but kind towards me… never making my passport an issue.

I would give zero stars to this bank if I could. This credit union asks like a bank. They charge for everything. I decided to close my account because they charge my account for inactivity fee. I was never told about this fee via email, letter or even a phone call. They even charge for a statements as well. I was told they do not offer interest for your checking account, but my other credit union offers 5.25 percent for interest. Honestly, DFCU seems like they are money hungry bank. I highly recommend going somewhere else.
