Very unfriendly staff with no urgency and 70% of the time no product! - too bad it’s the only pharmacy in town!

I ordered a refill of my prescription. Perfect. I asked about vaccines at this location. Perfect. I purchased 2 Covid tests-Not So Perfect. The clerk rang them up-$25. I asked if my insurance might cover the cost. Not any more, she told me. And then she added, “sometimes the public library has them.” I left (with my purchase) and went to the library. Free Covid tests for the asking! I got 2 packs of 2 tests. I returned to Family Fare to return the ones I got 10 minutes earlier. Same clerk says, “oh these aren’t returnable. Why do you want to bring them back?”“Because you TOLD me to check the library! You never said anything about them not being returnable.”“Well, they aren’t.”“And it cost me $25.”“Be mad at me. I don’t care.”I walked away at that response.I am 76 years old and retired. Twenty five dollars means something to me. Me as a customer meant nothing to her.I’d love to say I will go elsewhere. But it’s the only Rx show in town!!“Be mad at me. I don’t care.”That’s what was said!!!

I am so glad to find a forum to give a rave review for Mary Giem in the Pharmacy Department. She is so knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to keeping her customers satisfied and taken care of. She is so good at her job!

Where to start? First of all, there is nothing "super" about this market. On the contrary, the shelves are often poorly stocked, the produce is not only overpriced, it is often far less than fresh and, overall, the store is in need of a deep cleaning. Needless to say, this is NOT my go to store. Instead, I drive 15 miles to Petoskey and shop at Meijer, where the shelves are fully stocked, produce is fresh and reasonably priced and the store is clean and inviting. It is a real shame that Family Fare's parent company does absolutely nothing to improve this store while another store they own, Fresh Market in Petoskey, is the absolute anthesis of Family Fare in Boyne, which is a total disappointment . Boyne City deserves better.

After a Covid diagnosis at Lake Street, Urgent, Care in petoskey, a prescription for Paxlovid was sent to Family Fare pharmacy in Boyne City. They absolutely refuse to fill the prescription without lab work. outrageous! Prescription will now be sent to Walgreens in Petoskey, where they don’t make you jump through these hoops. As with most things, Family Fare Pharmacy is not customer centric and totally lives up to the very negative reputation Family Fare has with locals.

You can call them and wait to be transferred to not even get an answer for 5 minutes or longer.

“Saved me a trip to the ER”The ladies working in the pharmacy are incredibly kind and went above and beyond to try to get my prescriptions filled. I live out of state and I’m back home visiting for a month, I had no idea how difficult it would be getting some of the medications I take daily to help me function somewhat normal would be.A lot of pharmacists or people in general look at a brief medical history and don’t see a person especially a disabled veteran they see a liability because they are so concerned about possibly loosing their license when they should be worried about what the right thing to do is……In summary even if they hadn’t been able to help me out I’d still be giving them a 5 star review because they tried, which is more then I can say for Walgreens (?) or rite-aid.I hope that the regional pharmacy hierarchy reads this review and if they can’t award them some kind of financial accolade please at least recognize them for their efforts.

They seem to always have what I might need, sans any obscure items; but for some nice meal prep ingredients, look no further. Their savings card is probably worth applying for.

Refused to call the insurance provider to get a verbal confirmation that COBRA was approved but still in processing. They have a direct line to call but they refused to do so. Extremely rude and left me on hold for 15 minutes. I called Meijer in Petoskey and had the scripts changed over, Meijer took the extra step to get the information they needed and filled my prescriptions. Don’t go here they’re lazy & rude.

I usually come to family fare to get sushi because it's close to me but the rice is undercooked or like hard when i open the package like it's been sitting out longer. I'm not a complainer but I've gone about 6+ times to get sushi and it's not very good every time. and I'm sure people are going to read this and be like oh that's why you don't get store sushi but D&W in petoskey has GREAT sushi I'd rather go there than get restaurant sushi. In other words everyone there is always super nice great customer service just awful sushi
