A very homely, and inviting gym that offers a wide variety of machines, weights, cardio equipment, and outdoor recreation! Yes, there could be some obvious updates and improvements, but part of the experience is that small bit of "old school"... Always recommend that people sign-up here!

A great gym with just about every variety of exercise you could ever want. They have 6 plate loaded Hammer Strength machines, a full line of LifeFitness selectorized machines, 3 squat racks, 2 smith machines, tons of cardio machines and lots of other machines. Pickleball is played most weekdays for several hours, on up to 3 courts, along with 2 separate racquetball courts. They have quite a few group classes, and several outdoor walking trails for members. Really the best gym around.

Came here for the “open gym” and they book it out to pickle ball players everyday and they take up the whole gym when they very well could only use half the gym. It’s dumb the amount of money I pay for the gym for them just to rent it out everyday for like 6 hours. They should only be able to rent out the small basketball court.

I was a member here over a decade ago and very little if anything has changed since then beside the cost. I chose this gym because of location as most other gyms are nearly 20 minutes away for me. I believe there’s a big opportunity for someone to give them some competition- at this point it really wouldn’t take much. Their pricing is similar to a newer wellness center (I.e Dexter) but the facility and equipment is sub par and I often feel the space is not cleaned well, despite them starting to vacuum right next to you mid workout over an hour before close. These are things I’d be willing to overlook if customer service/experience was good, but it’s very lacking there too- no hello when walking in, no have a good day, etc. other than one staff member I can recall is often too busy on their phones or in conversations with other employees to really care that you’re there. Their weekend hours are very limited as well and they start shutting the lights off on you an hour before close which in my opinion is a poor practice and really just tells your members that you dislike your job and doesn’t create a warm or inviting atmosphere. This is all on top of their Pool/hot tub area often being out of order or rented out to parties- it’s under construction now so I’m hoping it’s better once done because that was an area that I noticed hadn’t aged well over the last 10-15 years. This gym has so much potential to be a great resource to our community and a space people would enjoy coming, but it’s just so far from that. My membership expires in a few months and I will be looking for a new gym, even if it means I have to drive twice as far.

Terrible venue for playing Pickleball and potentially dangerous, too. Back walls with doors and glass in them. Not a fun place to play.

My low review is based on HFC moving yoga classes to outdoors. My wife and I have been happy taking yoga classes at HFC until they decided to move the classes to outdoors. We drove up to the center today to see a note on the door saying the classes have been moved to outdoors. The group of seniors who make up a large percentage of usual attendants struggle in the heat and humidity. Best wishes to those who attend , but we will seek another club to enjoy yoga

This place is dirty and outdated. Definitely in dire need of a remodel, paint refresh, deep cleaning. The Women's locker room is disgusting. Handmade wooden benches to sit on that rock, painted a tan color. All kinds of workout equipment, but NO ONE will give you a tour and training on how to use them. You have to make an appointment with one of their "personal trainers" for that. Most weekends the pool is closed for private parties, i.e. non-member private parties. So not fair to your members who pay monthly to have access to the pool. The music playing in the speakers was just awful. The kids at the desk definitely put on what they liked and didn't take into consideration anyone else. Staff was unfriendly, unattentive and couldn't be bothered to help with anything. Just a few word answers to questions and that's it. Worst fitness center I've ever seen. Thankfully, only signed on for 3 months.

Great gym with awesome fitness classes and teachers. They do fun events also as an added bonus. Staff is always friendly and responsive too.

The previous swim instructor, Zac, gets 10+ stars - he was amazing with the kids - patient, kind and fun. My son looked forward to class and kept requesting to take more swim lessons. When Zac left, we signed up with another instructor, who was absolutely terrible. She barked orders at the kids, was impatient, and forced my son to do something underwater he wasn't comfortable doing - he left the class sobbing in tears saying he never wanted to swim again. He is such a sweet kid, it broke my heart. The gym itself is fine. It's dated but I'm sure it gets the job done.

I agree with Kate Campbell’s review.Facility: dingy, outdated, old equipment.Childcare: limited hours (no sundays and early Saturdays). If you work traditional full-time hours (8-5ish), very limited childcare hours. Children under 8 cannot access any of the fitness areas.Child’s “rec room”: broken bball game, broken foosball table, nothing else.Family locker room doesn’t offer direct access to pool (you have to walk down a set of stairs, through lobby, then free weight area into pool.Young boys (mine is 6) are not allowed in women’s locker room - which is fine, but the employee who very rudely informed me of unwritten/non-disclosed policy was extremely offensive, particularly when she asked, “are you okay with your son looking at naked women?” (Again, he’s 6!). Moreover, this was in front of other patrons! I was not only mortified but her tone, but EXTREMELY offended.I truly wish we had a better family fitness facility in the area. Considering making the 20-30 min commute to Ann Arbor or canton (lifetime)

We signed up for Hamburg Fitness after being extremely excited that they offered child care. We did the tour and thought it looked a little dingy and outdated, but we figured that as long as they had child care it was worth it. We were wrong. Our first sign should have been when we first signed up. The gentleman working the front desk, informed us that we needed to provide our bank account information, which we did. Directly after we received a phone call from the gym, informing us that they need our debit card information even though the application they provided specifically requested your bank account information. We provided them our card information only to be embarrassed every single time we walked in the gym for the next three weeks straight when the desk staff continued to try to tell us our payment didn’t go through in front of other gym patrons. We would then have to inform them about the mixup, and show them on our bank statement as proof that the charge did indeed go through and provide our card information once again. After this issue was resolved, we ran into another issue, which was far worse. The child care is limit is two hours, which is fine. However, every time we drop our daughter off we are treated like an inconvenience. We had never even been informed that the limit was two hour until on a Saturday one of the childcare providers rudely asked my husband and I “Are you two really working out this long?” After replying yes we informed her that we got a workout in before attending the yoga class. After which she responded by saying “Well the limit is two hours, and by the way your baby has diaper rash, we didn’t know if you were aware.” When I left I was in tears because not only was I aware, but I apply diaper rash cream regularly and had applied it before dropping my daughter off. We pay for a membership for our infant daughter to attend childcare only to be treated poorly, so we continue to pay her membership but are no longer using the services. We figured we would try to make the best of it and continued to work out with the out dated equipment in an unclean environment, with an extremely rude desk staff. However, even though we were no longer using the childcare, we decided to sign our daughter up for swim lessons. It was an extra cost, but we didn’t mind we wanted to make sure daughter would be safe in the water. We attended the first few classes where not only us but other parents found the swim instructor to be extremely condescending and unprofessional, which seems to be the theme at this gym. Then on our third lesson she informed us that she was out for the week because she was sick. On the week of the fourth lesson she returned to tell us that she had gotten RSV while she was gone. The VERY NEXT WEEK she was out again WITH RSV and it was so bad she was on her way to the hospital after teaching a class of infants. She could have gotten any one of them sick. We are now attending Goldfish Swim School because even the swim lessons weren’t worth it. If we could get out of our contract now we would. Do not waste your time, money, or energy at this gym.UPDATE: We have not heard from anyone at Hamburg fitness regarding this review contrary to what they posted beneath it. Directly after they did make sure to charge their monthly membership fees though! We were charged the very next day without anyone reaching out at all.

Nowhere on their website does it mention different memberships and their cost. Lost my interest in signing up. Their website is just as outdated as what the other reviews say about the building and equipment.

Really needs to be updated. Stair masters are super outdated. Definitely could be updated for the cost of the memberships you pay. A lot of work out equipment is outdated. One of older lady has a office in back is rude.

Pool is a little more chlorinated than I like but I enjoy going there to swim. Everyone I have talked to there is very nice and so is the staff.
