Simply put unprofessional.
I called them asking them what they’d offer for a 14K 16.5 gram gold necklace worth about 1,060 in scrap in todays market 4-21-25. Gold price is currently 3,417.
They would not make an offer over the phone. It’s scrap gold. Based off the information provided they could make a realistic offer contingent on the weight once brought in.
