If you care about your pet do not choose this clinic. brought our beagle in on multiple different occasions because he was limping. They told us over and over that he just pulled a muscle. months later our dog is crawling around with no feeling in his back legs. We tried to get him in again and they told us we would have to wait 7 hours when they had a slot to fill. We instead took him into an animal hospital where before even taking x-rays and MRIs they suggested a herniated disc and that was exactly what the problem was. How you don't check to see if a dog is suffering from a disease that my dog's breed (beagle) is highly susceptible to and not even bother to have an MRI done especially when this is a repeated issue is beyond me. Had they done their job my dog would currently be at home resting with a very good chance to fully recover. Instead the disease caused irreversible spinal damage and left him unable to walk or pee without a catheter forcing us to make the decision of putting him down because his quality of life would've been very poor. And to top it all off no apology whatsoever. This clinic will not treat any of our pets again.

South Kent lovingly cared for two of our dogs, from sickness through their final days. We've had a lot of vets in our lives, and South Kent Veterinary is the absolute top cate and compassionate animal care providers. I highly recommend! Thank you for lovingly taking care of our babies.

My Mom called here this morning because my dog was acting like she was dying! You couldn't even touch her body without her screaming. She was leaning to one side almost like a stroke and they could care less! They only care about money and nothing else!! The lady on the phone was beyond rude and even snickered at my Mom. They kept bringing up the fact that she has Luxating Patella in ONE KNEE, yet she screamed if you touched her chest or stomach. They just do not care about animals and the staff is very rude a lot of the time, especially one person in particular. They are horrible since Jackson left! My Mom had an incident with her dog a few months back. She has a lot of issues with diabetes and they basically did the same thing. My Mom finally convinced them to let her bring her dog in and they thought it was then so urgent, that they wanted to keep her!!! Yet they wanted to make her wait for an appointment before and her dog could have died. Other issues have happened but these two times were the worst. My Mom has been bringing her pets here for over 45 years and this is the only place I've ever brought my pets for over 20 years. I'll be finding a new vet that actually cares about animals.

I cant believe what this veterinary clinic has come to since the departure of the previous owner, Bob Jackson. It has fallen fast and deep into total disregard for their clients and their pets. I have story after story of their failure to take their clients during emergencies, of refusing to take a sick animal of a client and directing them elsewhere, closing the entire clinic for e v e r y t h i n g for 3 long days while they have their parking lot repaved, the Byron unit not doing a C Section for a client because it fell on the wrong day (they don't do emergency C Sections, they only do them on Tues or Thurs as scheduled. If your animal doesn't cooperate, you're SOL) I had a cat they refused to see but I'm very tenacious and said I was going to come and sit in the office until someone could fit me it, which I did. My cat was dying in my lap. They finally got me a room, a vet came in, an Xray was taken and I was told to go home and see if she got worse. I refused to leave. I stayed in that room watching my cat struggle to breath until I finally caught someone and asked them if we could get some oxygen. I was told they dont have oxygen except for a little tube I'd have to hold up to her nose myself. I said I would so was taken back to the operation facilities where I held oxygen for her for hours. As she continued to decline Bob Jackson, the former owner, saw me there and took over her care. She died within the hour. So much for the Dr that was sending me home with my cat openly dying in my arms right in front of her! I had been a client of Dr Jackson at SKV for almost 50 years. What this previously wonderful clinic has spiraled into is sickening.

We have been patients there for 40+ years. To say it's changed would be an understatement! we had an emergency with our dog and we're told to call back tomorrow morning and their emergency animals are seen on a first call first serve basis. The girl on the phone was very very rude. I miss Dr. Jackson and his staff.

We've been taking our pets here for almost 20 years! They have always been wonderful to us from walk-in visits to take a tick out of our dogs to late night emergencies when one of our dogs had a seizure from eating sugar free gum in a snow storm!! They have always come through for us!

Recently put my fur baby down. While the vet was wonderful and compassionate, when I came for my appointment (and you know I wanted to leave) my call stating I was there went to voicemail twice. Then, they made me weigh my poor baby before being put down. He had just been there two weeks ago so the weight was certainly close. The vet tech then discussed what I wanted to do with him after (I had this discussion over the phone when I made the appointment). All of this was very painful. But the WORST was when we came out of the room after his passing and the front desk person was grinning ear to ear. She obviously knew what had happened as we were less than 10 feet away and sobbing uncontrollably in the room. If you front desk person is NOT COMPASSIONATE, find a different position for them. We will NOT be back!

My husband took my dog there in an EMERGENCY as I was trick or treating with my kids and he couldn't get a hold of me. My dog had eaten a green block of mouse poison. They refused to see her even though he was there with her because he was not a current patient and they were full/busy. This was an EMERGENCY. Luckily I finally got his call and was able to call MY vet and they told me simply over the phone to give her peroxide to make her throw it ALL up and monitor her and that should take care of it. She's luckily ok. Had South Kent simply said that, I'd be praising them for saving my dog. However they couldn't even tell us the simplest of care for her because we weren't a current patient. This is one of the many reasons I will never go to South Kent as we had PREVIOUS animals that went there and now we prefer elsewhere. This was an EMERGENCY. They acted unprofessionally in a time of need. I hope they never have to go through this with their own family, whether it be animal or human, in a time of need. Horrible.

Everyone is always super friendly and accommodating. When our cat was sick they were able to get him in for an appointment the same day. Dr Ashley went above and beyond and we love her.

I'm not quite sure what has happened to this clinic. After so many of my pets being treated here, (at least 14), the past couple times were awful to get in and today I had an emergency that I was told would have to wait for a phone call back once a doctor could find a few minutes to squeeze my new sick puppy in. I never received a phone call. I called three different times to find out and was treated like a nuisance. "There's a message in your file, someone will contact you" was the reply given to me all day. I ended up finding another vet tonight who stayed late to see my puppy. And save him. I apologize to all I didn't believe that complained to me about South Kent this past year. I now understand and will be taking my 4 pets elsewhere.

Horrible if you're in an emergency. Take your animals somewhere else Wouldn't even fax over my dogs medical records when I asked.

I can't say enough good things about this veterinary clinic. We have been going to them for over 15 years since we had bulldogs. We find the doctors caring and informative and not perform unnecessary treatments. Their costs are very reasonable compared to other clinics in town but do quality work. Dr Jackson performed palate surgery on our bulldog pup because of breathing problems. The surgery resolved his breathing issues and he lived to 12 years - a long life for a bulldog. I especially appreciated how their staff showed their sympathy and compassion when we brought each of our bulldogs to them when they reached the end of their lives and how they administered the necessary treatment. They also have a kennel for their patients. I appreciated the fact that their patient dogs were given priority for kenneling and that I felt comforted that they were in a vets clinic while we were away. Our mix breed now sees Dr Casemier. We like Dr Casemier a lot. He does not administer unnecessary treatment nor medication. I highly recommend Southkent based on our very positive experience with them.
