I have had Alex tune my baby grand (which I purchased from Central Michigan Pianos; a lovely sounding and beautiful Weber) since 2012. He does an amazing job and it always sounds heavenly when he's done. He's also fairly priced, prompt, and courteous. He knows everything about repairs also. If you choose him to work on or tune your piano, you will not be sorry.

First I would like to say this company is very reliable, and on time with their scheduling. Their communication with their customer is extraordinary. He did an incredible job on tuning the piano and cleaning it up. It looks like a brand new Yamaha Piano. Thank you so very much for the service. I especially enjoyed him playing a couple jazzy songs when he was finished, totally rocked our world. Will absolutely have him do it again….

Alex Kapteyn is a top-notch piano technician and is always my first choice whenever I need to have my grand piano tuned or repaired. He is an expert at restoring pianos too. I purchased a beautifully restored Steinway upright piano from him years ago and was very happy with it. I also purchased a used Yamaha grand from Alex, which he reconditioned with some new strings, hammer felts, and other things so that it plays and looks like new. Alex is an honest man of the highest integrity, and I completely trust his work and advice on pianos.

Alex was referred to me by a friend who relies on her piano for her livelihood. A few minutes into meeting Alex, it was easy to see why my friend had chosen him as her piano tuner.Alex is friendly, professional and very skilled. I had an issue with my old baby grand a prior tuner could not fix. He told me “not a problem” and quickly made it just that - not a problem anymore.

It's important who you invite into your home. You want that person to be someone you can trust! Alex is that person. He was recommended to us, by my wonderful mother in law, and I knew he had to be trustworthy and knowledgeable if my mother in law, whom I look up to, recommended him! He's ? great!

Being a piano teacher with a master’s degree in piano performance, I was very careful when selecting a piano for my studio. I’d heard about Alex from my college professor. I ended up purchasing a Mason and Hamlin baby grand from 1901 that Alex had restored! I later purchased a Baldwin upright from him as well. I love both instruments and get so many compliments on their beauty and sound. For the past decade, Alex has been tuning and servicing those pianos. His rates are reasonable and he goes above and beyond to accommodate. I wanted to be able to roll my upright easily across the hardwood floor and he got creative and figured out a solution for making that happen! I wanted the action to be lighter on my baby grand and he was able to tweak it to my exact liking! Alex is trustworthy, friendly and most-importantly, an expert at what he does. And when he’s done tuning, I love listening to him play as he tests out his work:)

No one can top Alex Kapteyn in the piano business! His rebuilt pianos have beautiful tone and action, plus a special "soul" that only he can lovingly draw out of wood, felt, and metal. Alex has been tuning our family’s four pianos for over 20 years (Steinway Baby Grand, Kapteyn & Sons Steinberg upright, and two Baldwin uprights), and we trust him completely. He also refurbished the Steinway many years ago, with wonderful results.Alex is immensely skilled, reliable, honest and kind. Bonus: ask him to play your piano after he’s finished tuning it; he’s also a very talented musician!

Alex has tuned my pianos at school as well as my personal piano. He does a great job with communication, takes great care when moving pianos, and does an excellent job tuning. Highly recommended!
