“With variety beef cuts being difficult to find, this is a MUST stop. Ronnie's is usually my spot for beef ribs, brisket etc. While Randy's is the everything you need sausage spot. Definitely a Detroit staple.”
“It's definitely your old-time general store in its setup continued into the modern day. Love the selection of meats and cheeses, never a disappointment when I want to try out something new or different. They always have specials going on that are hand written on the cooler door behind the counter. Even letting you get a tasting of what they are offering for that day.
If it's your first time checking this place out. There are a couple of printouts for their meats and cheeses, respectively, sitting in pockets on the support pole by the counter. Thumbing through it, you will be amazed at all they offer. Not just local or domestic but regional from around the world.
This is the only place I get my Parmigiano or Parmigiano Reggiano from. You can even see that the wheel they cut it from has the required stippling on the rind so that you know it's authentic.”

“The best fresh produce in Ferndale. The meat counter simply can't be beat. I dislike the redesign that brought all the prepacked items and that almost forces you to only use the self check out. I don't work there; if I have to check myself out and bag everything I should get a discount! It takes away the friendly faces and personalization of a community market.”

“Great experience, live chicken slaughter, as best as it gets. Mention what size chicken depending on availability and they'll always fulfill it. Number one tip: always call before going there because sometimes they sell out! Also their cook food section has rotisserie chicken and other fried finger foods ... bargain deals! + Grocery store and some small selections of other meats, chicken is dominant of course.”

Many more grocery items & kitchens utensils have been added recently. Restrooms at this place are not healthy. we were not happy with the quality of some of the items during our latest visit. Now they have 4.5 gal container of olive oil that was of good quality.”

Not only has the service been outstanding, the knowledge of the owner Greg Ernst and his staff- the excellence of their product- the communication are simply excellent. They've been local and family owned for generations; integrity and transparency beyond reproach. Like many chefs I have to "deal with the Big Boys"- Sysco, US Foods, GFS etc. And frankly, I never had much use for any of of them per se. Ernst has performed brilliantly for me- and got product to me when The Big Boys could not- even though that lack of product was their mistake. I heartily endorse Ernst Hotel Supplies in all areas- Do yourselves a favor and make a call- you and your crew, your guests & your bottom line will not regret it.”
