I would like to provide some constructive criticism. With that said, I absolutely loved the atmosphere of this candy store. Their color coordinated displays really shows the attention to detail the employees take in their work. Although I probably won’t go back unless they take their customers into consideration.
1. The prepackaged candy from the bulk area is such a great idea, but it inhibits the ability to try different candies. Which is why those bulk candies stores are so great. Is there a way to provide both to customers? Prepackaged and the ability to get your own candy? I understand if there isn’t but if there is, maybe do it. I would also like to know if you’re packaging the candy, not for the sanity of it, but instead to keep it from going stale?
2. While I was there a group of Gen Z girls came in looking for candy that had obviously been tending on social media. The candy there (minus the freeze dried candy) is pretty generic, a little too generic. Might want to take a look into hiring a volunteer or a marketing intern to research social media trends. They did not have the candy she was looking for. Most of the recent reviews state that the selection was very limited, so I know I’m not the minority. It would be a real shame if such a cool candy stored closed because they were too stubborn to “get with the times”. Maybe even hire after school help and ask for suggestions. Getting any new blood working there would be extremely beneficial. Both ladies working were 70+.
3. This one ties into #2 - expand your candy selection to include more worldly candy. The store is very much geared to children and older folks and it shows. When we were there only Gen Z and Millennials came in. Half the store is soda, and honestly it’s way too extreme. That was a trend when Jones Soda was around in the early aughts, there is absolutely no need to have half the store dedicated to this. You could easily set up little displays with candies from different countries.
All in all it’s a very cool store but there needs to be some updating. I’m not even saying to update the inside, that didn’t even bother me. This shouldn’t be too difficult to change. It’s obvious that there are many customers who feel the same. With that said though, I have no need to go back. All the candy is generic and can be found elsewhere and the “unique” candy was meh. I live close to a snack store (geared towards adults who like the green - ngl that’s why I wanted to try Doc Sweets’ in the first place) and they have a way better selection than this place and it’s about a quarter the size.

Opened at 10am, I got there at 11:30am, surprised by the non assortment of candy, they had the same kind spread out various places, my total came to $28. And some change, handed her a $50 to which she replied it’s too early, (she couldn’t break the 50) i know I wasn’t the 1st customer, but they still should have been able to take my money and give back a 20.

Experience was horrible, took our toddler there, the lady that was at the door mean mug us, and straight up made an annoying face telling us “you know we close at 4 right?” When it was 3:45. Apparently she is a manager and her name is Wendy. We drove 45 minutes to just try out this place and we will not come again. We grabbed jelly beans and my 3 year olds were pressing the button with my help to pour them into the bags, she death starred my kids with so much attitude and as if she was disgusted by them and annoyed that they were pressing the button. Maybe because my kids are half Asian? My wife actually wanted to get out, but I wanted my kids to get their candy as they were super excited to be in a candy store. Horrible experience, I feel bad for my kids to be treated that way and that this is a store they will not be coming too again.

Touted as Michigan's Largest Candy Store, but personally, I believe the square footage and candy offerings are fairly limited.
The most impressive and enjoyable part of the "candy store" is actually the immense variety of soda in glass bottles, which is technically not candy at all.
We enjoyed the visit, but I'm not interested in returning.
PS: if FUN and FASCINATING candy stores are your thing, be sure to check out the Tummy Ache in Bay City.
Since I've been there a few years ago, no candy store can compare. It's sooo cute and imaginative. I've definitely got to go back ASAP. ????✨?

A little underwhelming not a huge inventory of goods either current candies or the throw backs. I also needed some sugar free options and they were very minimal. The price per lb on items were extremely high. I wanted to love this place and enjoy my experience here but sadly was disappointed. There is a very musky odor present in the building and based on that alone I wouldnt return.
