Food, drinks, and service is very good. My wife and I eat there about once a week. The lady who runs the place is sometimes very busy, but once you get to know her you find that she is a very interesting person who cares about her community. The interior of the place is very interesting, as well, with all sorts of seafaring relics on the walls and ceilings.

We wandered in here on a Friday night, absolutely starving and had no idea what to expect. We were so impressed by our server who was apparently running the whole operation. She tended bar, made the food, and bussed the tables and was welcoming and friendly. My BLT with a fried egg was probably the most delicious BLT I've ever had with thick bacon, bakery bread, and not an over abundance I've lettuce and tomatoes. The pub fries were perfectly cooked- crisp and hot. My husband's was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The portions were the perfect size and while there was a little bit of a wait, I'd totally recommend this place for a simple but quality meal.

Nice building atmosphere with good music and the food wasn’t bad compared to other restaurants in the area. Despite being on one of the largest lakes in the world no fish options were available. The reason I’m leaving 2 stars is because the woman working there was one of the most rude and sarcastic people I’ve ever had the misfortune of meeting. If this wasn’t the only place to get a decent bite within 30 miles I would give this place 1 star.

There was a reason the parking lot was empty at 5 o'clock on a Saturday! We walked in and the woman told us we could not sit in the bar and watch football with our 9 year old. She told us 2 years ago drinkers got rowdy and they will not allow kids to sit in the bar area. Again, the place had nobody in there. She was very rude, never asked for our drink order and made us feel very unwelcomed. We immediately left and were clapped out as we walked out the door. I cannot believe this place remains in business!

Was met as soon as we walked in the door telling us we couldn't sit in the bar area with are son even though there was no one in the restaurant. As soon as we sat down we were asked for our order without even opening the menu or ordering drinks. We decided to leave and find a different place to eat and the lady behind the bar started clapping when we left. We should of known it was a bad idea for dinner when there was zero cars at 5 pm on a Saturday.

The food is good but don't arrive at the restaurant anytime later than 1:15 minutes before they close. The owner will make it 100% obvious that she doesn't want your business because she is tired and wants to go home right at closing time.

Staff was incredibly rude, we definitely didn't feel welcome. We left before ordering food. Would not recommend, especially not for tourists.

We had a morning breakfast, and I think we were the first customers to come in. The entrance opens into the bar, and as we sat someone came in and directed to sit in the back, a dining room down the hall. The decor is quaint, and reflects the harbor-town culture; fascinating to study while you wait. Photos of great lakes shipwrecks, characters and maps. Anyway, the food (omlette and the "rise and shine" were quite good. We saw a dinner menu on a chalk board that looked inspired and yummy (fried green beans!).The quality is good, well made from basic sysco food stock and maybe some fresh local veggies. Coffee could be sourced better, but it's not Robusta (or maybe it is a mix). This place undoubtedly gets a good deal of the local night life (in Detour (say DEE-tour)) without the French affect), andnthey take they're drinking seriously. They back of our waitron's shirt proudly said, "hangovers, made to order." We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Two people working today. One at the bar and one in the dining area. Both were very snippy and rude. Got up and left wouldn't recommend this place.

Love the up north flavor of the bar side. It was there and I was hungry. Give 'em a try.

We were travelling by boat and wanted a meal out, and the selections were either the mainsail restaurant, or the other restaurant in town. As we only had a credit card, the only option was the Mainsail. We sat in the bar side of the building as we were unaware that there was the choice of the dining room. The bar had steady traffic of locals in for a cocktail on their way home. The decor is really cool, with lots of interesting bric-a brac about. Waitress barked that we could just find a table ourselves.. which we did. Frankly, the service was mediocre, as the single waitress was harried, and more or less refused to slow down to answer our auestions about the menu. The attitude was kid of like, " hey it's all written there, figure it out". Nonetheless, the waitress moved quickly, and poured an excellent whiskey and coke :) the food was excellent, I had a hamburger on fried rye bread. Really Good! My wife had a fish sandwich, also really good! Prices were very reasonable. I would recommend stopping by for a meal. Enjoy the local colour, the food is very good!
