UPDATE: I have been here multiple times and the place NEVER FAILS to impress. Some, if not the best drinks in Detroit. They stock hard to find bourbons and will take you on a cocktail journey with customized drinks simply based on your tastes. The food is always wonderful. If there is EVER Arctic Char on the menu...order it! I absolutely cannot recommend this place enough. One of my favorites of all time!Great place with awesome staff members and phenomenal drinks. Get the Cork & Gable old fashioned...$25 but so flipping good.Sept 22- Still one of the best, if not THEE best craft cocktail places in the city. John is an F'ing wizard with spirits and one of the main reasons we come. Food is absolutely fantastic as well.

Fabulous atmosphere. The old town vibe is everywhere, from the unique boiler entrance to the refinished plank tables. The menu selection is heavy on deep fried food. I choose the schnitzel because that is usually lightly breaded and baked - but it was deep fried (I should have asked). Food from the griddle was not available the day I visited. Cinnamon roll was delicious, but another high fat food. The wait staff was not to be found ... although others in our party were better served. Flatware was not adequate to cut up food (need better knives). If you just want drinks and fried food - go for it, but I was disappointed in the menu. Parking easy, adjacent to restaurant.

My family, including 10-yr-old kids, love it here! The atmosphere, waitstaff, and food are great! I like the fish and chips. The craft cocktails and awesome little donuts (so light & fluffy!) are an added bonus. I like sitting in the enclosed patio room with a view of the old train station. I can't wait to go here during the summer when the patio is open.Dietary restrictions: My daughter has a severe peanut allergy and we safely eat here. They are very sensitive to allergy needs. No peanut oil is used. However, their burger buns are made at an off-site bakery that is NOT nut free, so we just brought our own bun and ordered the burger by itself.

We arrived about five minutes early for a 6:00 pm reservation and our table was ready for us. The server was with us promptly, confidently described the specials for the evening, and had our drinks to us quickly. After that, she was attentive without being disruptive. Also, she was friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy her job. Just terrific customer service!! The food was delicious and at prices that were not big city inflated. My wife had the mushroom ravioli (from which I snuck more than a few bites because it was so tasty). I had the dinner special (Wahoo on a bed of risotto) which was also excellent. Food and value were both top notch. The atmosphere was comfortable. It seems like a place you could just as easily enjoy while dressed for a night out at the theater, which we were, or dressed for a ball game. The tables aren't packed so closely that we could overhear other people's conversations and the overall noise level didn't make it difficult to hold a conversation without raising our voices either. The last interesting thing was that the menu includes the Michigan sales tax in the listed price, so the bill comes to you in a round number. I don't know how common that is, but I'd never seen it before. Overall, Cork and Gabel met or exceeded expectations on every level for a nice dinner out before a show. We will certainly be back for another visit to sample some of the other wonderful items on their menu!!

It was fine. Service was good enough, food was fine at best. Regardless, we enjoyed ourselves. We'd been meaning to check it out and I'm glad we did, but I won't be rushing back.

Had horrible service, after mentioning we were dry and not there to try cocktails. Had to flag our waiter down after our appetizers came, just to order cokes and our meals. Again had to flag him down for boxes and again for our check. It was a pretty slow night, so it was not like he was super busy. Great location. Cool menu and environment, bad service unfortunately ruined those positive elements. Not a place for foodies if you don't drink.

It was a Valentines Day weekend and the drinks were limited. Asked for Titos and was respond from the waiter, we do not offer Titos because the distributor was rude when the restaurant opened. Out of Grey Goose, did not have Belvidere Z (only 1 Vodka was available that day.) and no pineapple juice??? Food on the other hand was the highlight. Probably will not go back.

Food was delicious! (Coming from a picky eater) pricing was great, atmostphere was also great. Server could use some work circling back/never refilled water but overall great

Outstanding eatery , Matt and his staff make you feel at home with great food and conversation. Watching the bar staff while sitting at bar area is very entertaining, as they create outstanding cocktails . You wont be disappointed !

We were really disappointed in the lack of flavor in our meals. The Guinness stew tasted only of celery, no meaty taste and not even a hint of Guinness. The donar kabob lacked enough of the vegetables and taziki sauce. The pub fries the best tasting thing. French fries.
