The only place to get a quality hat. They know the business. Talk to Jovon, he always helps me out.

I’d really been wanting to finally invest in a quality hat for a while, but wasn’t given the time of day at this establishment. It seemed I didn’t fit what seemed to be the requirements to be a customer if you follow…The sales associate and supposed owner just kept on asking if their price point was in my budget. They wouldn’t even let me hold let alone try on any of the hats. I’ll just keep looking for a store where someone like me is valued and hopefully be a life long customer.

Wonderful buying experience all around. Everything was wonderful - the nostalgia, selection and especially the staff/owners. Everything is top notch. I highly recommend them.

I know these owners well. They are truly hard working people who value their customers. I would be proud to shop and spend my money at their business.

Today I was really excited to stop at Henry the Hatter. My father shopped there for years and I had not been since they moved down to the Eastern market area. I am a 55 year old black female. They must have a lot of stealing because brother profiled me and followed me around the store like I was a dog in heat. This is so disappointing. I went because I wanted to inquire about getting a hat stretched and also wanted to throw some money their way. They didn't follow the caucasian people around the store - only me. I'll be back for them too stretch my hat. I don't think I'll be purchasing anything from them. Being profiled is a feeling that makes you sick to your stomach. I guess this is part of gentrification. I did politely speak to the gentleman about my experience while I was there I believe his name was Jovan, it was a no use.

Staff knew exactly what we were looking for and got the hat to the proper fit. Photos of the past recognizing the nostalgia of Henry The Hatter was awesome.

Even though relocated this is a classic Detroit as it gets. Biggie was a fan. This isn't a costume shop, these are excellent hats anyone can spot from a mile away. I opted for a classy sailors hat seeing as I was headed to Sinbads. Stop in,. You may walk away with a great hat playboy.

Best thing we did in Detroit was to come to Henry the Hatter. Paul , the owner, was such a wonderful gentleman who shared with us the history of the store. Zach, his son , was extremely patient and polite with me as a shopped for the right hat and best fit for my XL head. The selection here is the best of any hat shop I've ever been to anywhere in the world.

I was very excited to visit this shop. I drove an hour from my home to check it out. I have a couple of hats at home, but I wanted one from a legitimate shop with a history of industry service. I was disappointed. I thought maybe they'd measure my head, make recommendations based on my stature and style. They told me that I should just try on a " large" and never mentioned a hat size. I tried on 2 hats, ended up paying $93 for a paper hat that matches the quality of the one I got from Target for $20. Look, I get paying a fair price for a quality product. THAT'S WHY I BOUGHT THE HAT INSTEAD OF LEAVING EMPTY HANDED (or headed, I should say). I'm no prince, I don't need to be pampered. I just thought that a business like this with a good reputation and a history of specialized experience would have helped me find the best hat for my head. They did not. The salesperson was apathetic and didn't seem to care if I found anything at all to my liking. I just had such high hopes, maybe I set myself up for disappointment. I might go back to overpay for another hat, but only if I can't find one I like at Walmart first, because this shop offered me all the old-world charm and specialization of a Shoe Carnival.
