My daughter was married here in July, 2008. This church is absolutely magnificent, the wedding was beautiful and the entire atmosphere of the Holy Mass, the marriage ceremony ~ EVERYthing was respectful, true to the Liturgy, and absolutely perfect in every detail. What a wonderful experience from that day that I will always remember.I see that they have the Traditional Latin Mass there and whenever I am able I will certainly be in attendance ~ we live in the suburbs so it will be a drive, but that's not important.God bless...and may He keep this parish in His Sacred Heart always!!

My grandmother lived right around the corner from this church. She would take me to church with her in the 1950s. I was in awe everytime we went because it is so big and beautiful. She brought an Easter basket with a butter lamb and hard boiled eggs and a ham to be blessed every Easter. She had a pew with her name on it. All my cousins aunts and uncles were married here. My mother was the youngest of Apolonia's eight children and she was married here too.My grandmother immigrated here from Poland to marry my grandfather at the turn of the century...they had never met..but were promised to each other. They married in this church and raised a large Catholic family just around the corner. Her children all attended the church school.I still remember Grandma's beautiful rosaries. I remember her often with a rosary in her hand. I love you Grandma.

This is one of Detroit's iconic Catholic churches. If you love to visit beautiful churches in Europe, you will want to visit Sweetest Heart of Mary. It jas all the beautiful you'll see in the most beautiful of its peers. It is just North ormf the Eastern Market, so if you're at the market, consider stopping in and vice versa.

Possibly the most beautiful church in Detroit.Super easy to attend Mass there. We attended the Saturday Vigil Mass at 4pm. Park in the back and walk around to the front. Very easy.... it is obvious that SHM was a very important parish to the people, so much beauty, so many stain glass and statue images. Very inspiring and great for the soul.

Lots of history. Beautiful architecture. You can feel the love and devotion the founding parishioners had for their beloved church.

Beautiful, old church. Their Lenten fish fries are famous. They have a tremendous collection of 1st degree relics spanning from the ancient world to today.

My husband and I chose this church to get married in at first because it is the most beautiful church we have ever seen. Though the views of the church are beautiful there are many more reasons we chose it. We are both Polish and it meant a lot to us and our families. The volunteers who helped us with our special day, Therese and Carol, were so sweet and so helpful! If you want a show stopping church, I couldn’t recommend it enough! I attended the 12pm mass for The Presentation of the Lord, also known as Candlemas. The church, built in the late 1800s, is a beautiful Gothic atmosphere. A lovely parishioner noticed that my friends and I were new. She brought us the sheets that were on a table and explained that the prayers were said after mass. The church and mass are very traditional. It brought me back to my childhood when we approached the altar and knelt to receive the Eucharist. Also, I so happy that I could light a candle and pray after mass. Many churches have removed the votives. A welcoming parish.

We went here to attend a special mass that included the Novena prayer. It's an absolute beauty of a church! We happened to be there when a lady was starting a tour of the church explaining the history and architecture! It was an awesome experience! Every Catholic or Christian should visit this place at least once during their lifetime!!

i called here today to see what it would look like to get married here. and let me tell you, do not even waste your time unless you wanna be COMPLETELY JUDGED by all the church people here. be prepared to lie about YOUR WHOLE RELATIONSHIP with your fiance or theyll deny you and keep your deposit too. they will make you feel like you are not catholic if you do not act perfect. everything that the bible is against. beautiful church, real ugly people.
