Live in north Lansing, but get USPS service through DeWitt. Had two letters returned for additional postage because of "coated paper" on the envelope. The paper in question? A standard thermal printer shipping label applied to a kraft envelope ??♀️ Took it to the East Lansing PO, all employees agreed there was nothing wrong with it, they receive letters just like it every day (and I'd sent out hundreds of envelopes just like this in the past year without issue). I now drive five minutes from my home to put my letters in a mailbox that I know they don't touch, and I haven't had a problem since. Just avoid at all costs.

I can’t understand the Karens posting about rude folks here. Every interaction I have had with the staff at the DeWitt Post Office (and our mail carrier) has been friendly and professional. They are also efficient and go out of their way to help, which is all the more impressive since I have had some unusual shipping issues of late.If you’re posting about the looks on people’s faces and the attitude you think you’re getting, consider looking in a mirror for the source of the problem.I’ve lived all over the country and know the varying levels of service you receive at different post offices. That’s why I gladly give this post office five stars.

Honestly, after reading all of the reviews I actually feel sorry for this particular post office so I am giving 3 stars. First off, I am grateful to say I have been going to this post office for 5 years. Within that time period, my experiences have been okay. I did notice rude workers here and there but I somehow escaped being a target or was too busy to deal with it. TODAY, as soon as I walked into the office, a young lady (late 20's-30's, shoulder length brown hair) came from the back with an unpleasant look on her face. I was hoping she had just smelled something foul and that this was not her resting face. Uhhhmmm, it was her resting face and her internal spirit. :( Someone mentioned in their review concerns about this happening in "Dewitt, of all places". Unfortunately we are exploring some uncharted obstacles wordly and many people are in a bad way. As a mental health provider, I assure you that even the most polite and repitable person has the potential to be rude. HOWEVER, there does seem to be legitimate concerns with emotional intelligence at this paricular facility. This is a serious concern for the entire Dewitt communitiy. So the question is, what can we do to help? Writing bad reviews is a start but that also makes us part of the problem and not the solution. A package of mine has been held up for over a week. I went in person to see what's the problem and suddenly, approximately an hour later, the package appeared at their location after I was told they never received it from UPS. Not sure what to think but I don't want to make any assumptions. I just hope the package finally arrives tomorrow as indicated. In either case, trust me, I have been patient with many entities due to covid-19. In many cases, poor service and worker attitudes seem ridiculous. But don't forget to assess (during these times that continue to seem like our final days), what can I do to not become part of the problem? This post office needs help but I doubt unhappy workers will quit their job during these perilous times. And don't forget to take the time to pray for the workers to get better. That earns you far more points than berating them. Please understand, I am not asking you to turn your cheek to blatant and rude behaviors. I am just suggesting we overload the culprits with kindness as it's apparent some of these people need counseling support.

Incredibly rude staff. Reached out in regards to a package that had my wedding ring in it that was missing and they were not only rude, but unwilling to even attempt to help or point me in the right direction. The woman on the phone made it very clear that she couldn’t be bothered.

This place is a joke and most of the employees are rude. There is one I work with when I go in. She gives the best service. The one to watch out for is LISA. Very very rude. In person and on the phone. Especially when you make a missing package claim. She is almost making me consider not using USPS for shipping anymore. Ill pay extra and drive further to go to fedex or ups. This is because Lisa hung up on me, when she called me about my package.

I literally watched a mail carrier defy a sheriff deputy and blow through a police barricade during the ox roast parade this year. If that wasn't bad enough the man drove carelessly and recklessly with hundreds of people crossing and lining the streets to watch the parade. Might give two stars some day if these overpaid un accountable super chiefs could actually close my mailbox after looking through the contents of my mail as its delivered!

Paid restricted first class mail was sent to an individual living in Dewitt. Postman returned to sender because the "N." Want before Bridge St on the letter. Granted, there could be 2 addresses for it to go to since there is north and south, but the name should be a dead giveaway as to whom and where it should go. The post office here in williamston has NEVER had such issues even with normal mail. Not to mention they have failed to return the letter that was returned to sender and they are just holding it.

Not happy that our mail carrier keeps getting switch to a new one. This most recent carrier is awful. She seems to have a problem with house numbers as she keeps giving us our neighbors mail. She will not get out of her vehicle if she needs to deliver something that either needs a signature, extra postage or is to big for our mail box. She just leaves notes saying couldn’t deliver. My husband and daughter both work from home so someone is always here! Our latest failed delivery was from Saturday 2/13 (which we were all home that day) and she didn’t fill out the note correctly that she left so when we tried to reschedule the delivery it said the bar code was invalid. We then went to the post office and showed them the note and the customer service person there said they didn’t know what it was due to lack of info from the mail carrier. If this job isn’t for you and you can’t do it right, then give this job to someone who really needs it and will do their best at it!!!

Very rude staff , I had multiple packages set to be delivered that had the correct address but postman refused to deliver it although my other mail had been delivering other mail day by day . I went into the office to pick it up and the younger lady that helped me was very rude and unwanting to look for package although it was the very next day . I know to get my packages delivered through UPS or FedEx

Was charged $4 to send a small envelope with two tiny tubes of gel ( the size of individual glue tubes). I questioned the cost and options but the post person insisted that was the best cost. The postal person on the other end said it should have easily fit the 49 cent criteria.

We tried to donate food for the Stamp Out Hunger food drive today. Double bagged our donation and hung it on the mailbox before we left for the day, around 9am. Noticed our neighbor also put out food on their mailbox as we were leaving the house at 11am. Got home 12 hours later and our donation was still hanging on the mailbox, yet the neighbors was not. We are heartbroken that our donation was not picked up. Don't advertise a food drive if you aren't capable of picking up ALL donations!!! Totally unacceptable!

The postal employee who delivers our mail neglects to pick up our mail if she does not have a delivery (my assumption). I have spoken with her about it and she assured me that it would not happen again, that she will speak with her “sub” about it. Yet it keeps happening. This causes our bills, and other things to be late arriving. I have had 3 homes in DeWitt, and have never had this problem before! I really don’t know how to remedy this situation, I don’t feel that addressing it with the office in DeWitt would solve the problem. I’m so frustrated!!!

I’ve never dealt with a more irresponsible/lazy post office and carrier. We often have mail delivered to the wrong houses so I started calling the post office to report each time it happened and was assured the problem would be looked into and resolved, but it is still happening. There have been times at which I called to let them know there is important looking mail in my box that is for a neighbor up the road, and I was told to leave it for the carrier to redeliver but after it sat there for a week o found the neighbor it was addressed to. Needless to say, I’ve gotten to know the whole neighborhood very well as we finished the mail carriers job and delivered each other’s mail to the correct home. I have also watched my carrier toss packages from her truck in the road into my lawn rather than getting out to place them at the door. When she does walk them to the door she doesn’t leave them under the covered part to protfeom rain, rather about a foot outside of the covered area. Most recently I found my family portraits in an envelope marked “DO NOT BEND” folded in half the long way in my mailbox. If I could hire a private mail service rather than using this joke of a post office I would do it in a minute. I’m not sure it will get better, seeing as I have talked to John, the post master over 20 times in the past 15 months and nothing has changed. He also says that he can’t do anything unless he gets a call the same day the issue occurs. This doesn’t work for people who have jobs because the post office closes at 4 or 5 every day.

Was asked if my parcel was fragile. I replied yes and she (Alexa) acted shocked as if nothing that is shipped is fragile. I had written "this side up" on the box as I've seen it many times before. She said it's going to be tossed around and flipped upside down. I told her whatever, it's fine they're plants. When she gave me the total to ship them and asked me if that's alright I replied "yes" to which she responded "seriously..?" In a very judgmental tone. Not sure how she expected me to get that large amount of plants across the country on an airplane. Next time I'll go with FedEx or UPS.

If I could give negative stars I would. I moved to Dewitt 3 years ago and have issues from the beginning! Gave me a hassle when I tried to change my address, had no change of addtess cards available. I went in recently to purchase stamps and the clerk was rude and made me feel as though I was imposing on her. She tossed the stamps across the counter at me and made me feel very unwelcome! I also have begun to notice that whem I place mail in my box to be picked up it is not picked up until I have mail that needs to be delivered...why are the mail persons working if they are unable to fully do their job! Lastly, yesterday I had a package delivered and it looks as though it was tossed from my bottom step to land leaning against my door all busted up! (I have pictures for proof of the condition of the box) Seriously do the employees care about their job? These issues need to be addressed.
