Always check the reviews before purchasing an item or contracting for a service from a business with which you have never had prior experience. Had I followed this simple step, I would have prevented the theft of my riding lawn mower by C&K Small Engine Repair in Dimondale, Mi.
On March 20th I authorized C&k to pick up my riding lawn mower. I signed authorization for them to do a routine tune up and blade sharpening. I should add that when I stored by mower in my garage in the late Fall it was running fine, and I had no reason to believe it needed more than routine service. On Wednesday, April 9th I was notified that they were unable to start the mower, but had identified the problem as a needed new ignition switch and they would call me when the mower was ready to be returned to me. Since I received no return call, I called back on April 14th and was informed that the mower engine showed no compression and would likely have to be trashed and would be returned to me for a nominal $25 return fee. In subsequent phone calls the position of C&K changed several times as to the terms of the return of the mower with the owner finally taking the position that my mower would only be returned if I pay for an unspecified amount for the labor on my now inoperable mower.
In my last conversation with the owner I referenced the scathing reviews that C&K had received from prior customers. The owner acknowledged that he had received many bad reviews, but said that these reviews were several years old. My experience shows that the subsequent years have not changed either the honesty or competence of this company. Buyer beware!
After my review I filed a complaint with the State Attorney General's Consumer Complaint division, and it is currently being investigated. I have also seen reviews for the past two or three weeks that mirror my experience. If others are so inclined, they can file complaints with the same State office.

I’m writing to affirm the previous review as much as it pains me.Exact same thing. They’ve had my mower for 3 months now and every time I call I am given a different story. The lady answering the phone says they don’t have the people to look at it or fix it so I said ok just bring it back and I’ll pay the 45 dollars for pickup and delivery.Well 3 more calls and promises to bring it back and they still haven’t brought it back. I believe just like with Mr.Park previously they don’t intend to bring it back. Its apparent their business model is to just steal it?The likelihood is that they’re going to tell me I owe them money for looking at it and I’ll need to pay before they’ll bring it back. Here’s the problem:They have proven to be dishonest people who I would never trust with my credit card or in any other way.I just want my mower back so I can take to people who are more honest brokers.Im 70 years old and have never written a review before but folks if you’re reading this beware these are the totally dishonest people that all us fear when trying to find repairs for our cars and homes and equipment. I should have read the reviews before I called them for sure.

DO NOT USE! I sent my mower in to get fixed because it would not start. They had my mower for 27 days. they replaced the solenoid and added a fuel filter. They informed us that our deck mounting brackets were broken(it wasn't).after it was returned. It still doesnt start and now I have a different deck on there. They call you back at there convenience 3 or 2 weeks later. we paid $217.49 for pick an return and im still sitting here with a busted mower. Buyers Beware!

I took in a very old snowblower which had parts that were obsolete. After searching for a week for the rights parts, Taylor ending up fabricating some of the parts from scratch. They did such a great job. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!

This will be review 1 of at least 2. They were able to get right up to my house to pick up my commercial tractor. They had to order parts so that took about a week, and I am expecting the tractor back by Monday. It just needs a drive belt, cooling fan, deck belt and service, When I stopped down there, they were building some new buildings that definitely looks like a professional repair shop.2 of 2My four star review just changed from a 4 to 1. They dropped the tractor back off at my house didn’t bleed the Hydrostatic drive, Did not install the belt, did not even inspect it for the secondary reason I sent it down there. Instead of servicing the tractor, they did a tuneup on it, which I just did two weeks ago so they were pulling out brand new spark plugs…They will not return my calls. I basically paid $400 to have a belt put on! BEWARE!

This place is a joke. 4 phone numbers and I only spoke to a person one time. Drove all the way out of town and they don't have an office or anything... No signs to indicate they do repairs.Looks like a landscape company to me...

Thank you, C&K! I’d give y’all a 6 if I could. Thank you, Kathy and all the folks who finally got my little 25 year old lawn tractor mowing like a new one. After it was delivered to me the first time, the deck failed. I personally visited C&K, way out in the country, and chatted with Kathy, the friendly owner, who said she’d have their driver pick it up. They replaced a broken belt at no charge, and delivered Toro to me again (thanks Duane!)Barbara Wheeler
