I am seeing a lot of reviews attacking MSUFCU for the new Abbot and Albert branch. My response is this: don't go to that one. It was very clearly designed for easy access to the students on campus, which is the primary function of this bank anyways. None of the on campus locations are particularly easy to get to by car, but they aren't designed to be. The branch at the student union has parking out front, should you need it, and the one further down grand river (near where cottage inn pizza is) lots of options for parking. If you absolutely can't spare the extra 5 minutes to walk to the bank, the branch located on mount hope and farm lane is only a few miles from where these other branches are located.I have been with MSUFCU for 2-3 years and have had only good experiences. Great rates on credit cards and personal loans, great yield on the savings builder account, and great staff at every location I have visited. I plan to keep all of my banking (including my eventual mortgage) through this institution. Thanks for everything!

Between my professional and personal life I use 5 different financial institutions. MSUFCU wasn't competitive with what I needed so I decided to close out the account.I called and spoke with someone to close it. They attempted to offer me financial advice over the phone, which was concerning, but we finally got to the end goal of closing the account.9 months later I received a letter in the mail informing me that I will be fined for my inactive account.I called back and was informed that its actually my fault for not monitoring the in app messages (of my closed and deleted for 9 months account.) I asked that we then actually close my account and was informed that my options were to schedule a visit at a branch or donate my existing balance to a charity.I travel for work and am often dealing with short notice crisis, so scheduling a visit to a branch over 2 hours away is not ideal, so charity it is. As a Veteran in my state, I am very cautious of which "charitable foundations" I fund, so I asked where my money would go. I was simply informed that I should try to look it up online. I laughed assuming this was intended to be an attempt at a joke, there's no way someone would take your money and not tell you what it supported, but came to the very uncomfortable realization it was real.I then confirmed "you are certain that my only options are to give you my money without knowing how it will be spent, or to physically go to a location with an appointment or I will continue to be fined" and was told yes.I explained how extraordinary discriminating this is to certain portions of the population, especially disabled Veterans, but was informed it was the ONLY option or the fines would continue.She then provided me with the closest partner branch (45 minutes away) and informed me when to be there and advised me to call back then (that is not how appointments work, but I agreed to end this complete and disrespectful madness).I took the next morning off and secured transportation and arrived at the described time to a closed and boarded up facility.Having never experienced such frustration and ignorance, I called the support line back to try to understand how any of my experience with this institution could be real. My account was closed over the phone in under 5 minutes.Avoid MSUFCU.Update: For those curious about how the feedback requested in this review went- I emailed the requested address and they simply never responded.

The location they chose and the layout for their new branch location at the corner of Abbot and Albert is ridiculous. No parking and an absurd check-in process at the branch. It's like they completely forgot to ask customers what they want. CONVENIENCE! I don't want my trip to the bank to be an experience, I just want to do my business in an expeditious manner and go about my day. The new branch is a massively stupid time-suck for customers. What a waste.

The fact they chose that this was a location to build is screwed up, at the same time their debit card barely works, I have been declined for transactions that shouldn’t be a problem, like gas, if I were you, I would find any other credit union than this. They only care about making sure students of Michigan state are in debt to them.the new location is a slap in the face to every student. No one wants to see an ugly building that has zero purpose.

Turned me off of credit unions for good. They basically steal your money from your forced account, after you pay them interest on your loan. Probably because loan was paid off early and they missed out on some interest money. I was a cosignor for someone, and I told them i don't live within that state, to send me a check for the balance. They charge? How much? The exact amount in that account i was forced to have when we got the loan? Oh how convenient. Stealing from customers, $5 at a time.Disgusted. Don't do business with them.

I just want to acknowledge the excellent customer service I received from the new Abbot location Branch Manager Jena Dups. I had a unique issue and she went above and beyond to provide me the clarity I needed without compromising MSUFCU policies...and I'm not even a member. As a result of her professionalism MSUFCU will be my next stop when I open an additional account.

As the CU grew, their willingness to go out of their way to serve members and their ability to think outside of the box to find solutions shrank. I'm very disappointed with my last two years of experiences with this institution.

The larger this institution becomes the less human they are. Bigger isn't always better. Just spent 35 minutes trying to deposit a handful of change as they have replaced an efficent line for tellers at their new headquarters. Also takes multiple steps to reach a human being via phone.

Do not bank with this institution even as a college student. My card was hacked and they said they would overnight me a card next thing I know I have to wait a week for me to get my card. During this time I have no access to my OWN money. No gas and no food! I had to pay my rent late! When I called they had no explanation on why this happen. I couldn't even go into a branch because I no longer live in the area. I know I will be changing back immediately this was the final nail in the coffin.
