We stayed here 2 nights while we were in the area visiting my family and wow what a great place, great friendly and super helpful staff! And a very comfortable clean place! O not to mention it was right around the corner from my parents house!

Myself and 2 coworkers were sent to the area to do a job. I have a small dog that travels with me everywhere. They don't allow dogs. Good thing I brought my semi so I had somewhere to sleep, while the coworkers got themselves a room. Bummer too, After being in the truck for most of the last month, I was looking at their jacuzzi room too as a splurge for myself for the night. Oh well.

This establishment is disgusting. It didn’t even look like my room was cleaned and the breakfast was barely edible. Staff was rude and double charged me as well. Don’t go here.

Staff is very friendly and absolutely wonderful. However, the shower water is always cold and the WiFi is absolutely terrible you have to go sit near the front desk to even get anything to send one simple email.

A clean and cozy place. Has a pool. It's quiet. Lovely. Near to various eateries.

It's a decent hotel there's is no elevator but it has a old natural style a room I was in had a wooden bunk bed. So it does have that nostalgic feel.

I thought that for where we were, the hotel was 5 star. The service was great, the rooms were super clean, and the continental breakfast was exactly what it was supposed to be. ( A continental breakfast)Rooms: It's super clean, not high off the ground, and comfortable.Noteworthy details: 20 miles west of Alma, MI. With the drive and better than any in Alma. Also, half the price of Mt.Pleasant.

OK, found this hotel due to all of the ones in Alma being booked AND the ones in Mount Pleasant costing way too much. Had never even heard of the town of Edmore before. What a fantastic gem in a little town and THANK GOODNESS we found it!! Parking lot was clean, including the garbage can, and well lit. The front desk & lobby/breakfast room was spotless (the luggage cart was even clean & shiny). Hallways & stairs were clean and very well vacuumed (even the corners!), room was BEAUTIFUL!! Same as the hallways, vacuumed even to the edges, dusted well everywhere and the walls were clean. Carpet was CLEAN, not just vacuumed. Fridge was clean (even on the outside). Table & chairs were clean (even the rungs on the chairs were clean). Nightstand & bureau were clean including the drawers (SO many hotels have nasty drawers with hair, fuzz & such in them!!). All of the lamps were clean and all had working light bulbs. Bed was clean and VERY comfortable along with the pillows. The bathroom....it was absolutely SPOTLESS!! Towels were clean, sink, mirror, tub, floor, base of toilet, shower curtain were all so very clean. My husband is 6 foot 3 and had NO problem in the shower!! NOW for the breakfast.....it was a CONTINENTAL breakfast. Anything I saw regarding breakfast signage was with regard to the card coupon you received with your room key for THE DEPOT right in front of the hotel (a $5.00 off coupon). There was even a LIST of what they served at THE DEPOT taped on the front counter at check in. This was all explained at check in, if you listened, the clerk was very thorough, including where the CLEAN POOL TOWELS were (always a full basket of clean ones on the front counter!!). As I said, the CONTINENTAL breakfast included 5 kinds of oatmeal, 2 kinds of cereal, 2 kinds of bagels, french toast (which yes, you did have to heat in the microwave but what is the big deal???), fresh waffles on a waffle iron that was well seasoned and clean (folks need to learn what seasoned cooking utensils look like!!!!), 3 kinds of fruit, coffee, tea, orange & apple juice, hot chocolate, and iced tea (along with butter, syrup, cream cheese, a few kinds of jelly and peanut butter). This is what a CONTINENTAL breakfast is!! If you wanted meat, eggs or biscuits & gravy, your option was to pay another $150.00 for a room up in some of those chains in Mount Pleasant (won't name which ones, but would like to) or USE YOUR $5.00 COUPON & GO TO THE DEPOT!! BTW, not many of those hotel chains, if any, are 1/2 as clean as this place. SO, if you were unhappy with this hotel (The Edmore formerly Maxfield's, just to reiterate), I really think you either don't get out enough, or are never really happy. ALSO, if you need special accommodations, that is not up to the HOTEL to let you know, it is up to YOU to ask when you call!!! REALLY!!! OH, and I saw a poor review because they couldn't swim in the pool for a day? Weren't even staying there at the hotel??? My goodness!! ON A FINAL NOTE........a HUGE thank you to the staff for a wonderful stay!! Sadie, you were extremely pleasant when checking in last night, and to the gentleman this morning at breakfast & check out, you were a pleasure to talk to & thank you for everything. AND last but not least, the housekeeping lead/manager who I talked to as I was walking back to my room, thank you for a job well done!! WE WILL go out of our way to stay with you again when we are in the area!!!

I stay here every single time I'm in the area for work. Staff is very kind and the hotel is clean! The TVs have HDMI access so you can set up gaming consoles. Internet works great and the pool is nice!

Was a great hotel over all but I was there for 5 days and they have signs all over the hotel about there breakfast and they didn’t really offer any of it. Bagels were hard French toast was even harder and the waffle machine is so burned it doesn’t look like anything I’d want to use. They didn’t offer any of the hot breakfast like the 15 signs I seen around the lobby. Kinda disappointing since I booked here because of the breakfast they claimed to offer. They don’t keep towels in the pool area. We called the front desk multiple times to get towels and never once got an answer.

This wasn't a bad hotel by any means, but it was no more than mediocre at best for a not-so-budget price. It's nice, in a very conservative, "Oh, well that's nice", kind of way. Not a single thing about it is impressive, but it's completely serviceable for a decent place to stay for a night or two. It is very clean, which of course is extremely important. Even a lousy hotel is a good one if it's clean. It's about as standard as any average hotel, which means there's nothing to really praise it for, but nothing awful about it either. I was quite disappointed to find out that though they have a pool, they don't have a hot tub. That was extra disappointing when I saw the tiny little pool in a room big enough for it plus two hot tubs. The oil looked nice, but too small to be enjoyable, and we older folks pretty much always prefer a hot tub. The bathroom was clean and the tub is pretty big if you'd like a nice bath, but the shower head was econo-fine-spray and only about 5.5ft up which made it hard for me to wash the hair on my 6ft head. The bed was unremarkable, but comfy. The pillows were much thicker and more firm than most, which I actually liked, but my wife did not. There was a mid-size fridge in the room, but oddly it didn't have a freezer even though it was larger than a typical hotel mini-fridge. We didn't spend a lot of time actually at the hotel, so I can't judge the service very thoroughly. What I do remember was that the gentleman that checked us in around 11pm was very nice and helpful. However, the lady that was running things when we went down for breakfast in the morning was thoughtless and uncaring. She wasn't mean, and she doesn't seem like a nasty person, but she was so focused on the tasks at hand that she was unintentionally quite rude to several of us. Her rude behavior so noticeably distributed the morning that several of us that had never met were exchanging knowing glances and a few of us that sat there longer even talked about it. This was during the included breakfast that was beyond disappointing in the first place. Like the hotel in general, there was nothing gross about the breakfast. It was perfectly edible and nobody felt ill from it. It really was terribly disappointing though. There was so little to it that there was literally more open counter space than used. They have the typical hotel waffle maker, but the cups of mix were so small they only made 2/3 of a waffle. Honestly, every waffle I saw, including my own after letting the cup drip out every bit I could get, was full on one half, and only the bottom face on the other half. I asked the lady where the syrup was, and she pointed to the baskets with the utensils, and watched me struggle for an embarrassingly uncomfortable amount of time before huffing over herself to realize it was all gone (she was able to find more at least). There was a couple pieces of French toast that were okay after heating in the toaster, but had no flavor at all. Aside from that, there was some breads, cereal, and a juice dispenser. Was it enough? Yes. Was it worth paying $20 more than the hotel that doesn't provide breakfast? No, not at all. I could've spent less and been more satisfied if I'd eaten at the fast food place across the parking lot. Combine that with the rude lady that was so concerned with shutting down breakfast precisely at 9:30 that she was literally waiting in line behind people to take things away as soon as they stepped away from them, and I was very happy that we weren't staying another night. Overall, I wouldn't call it a "bad" experience, but it certainly wasn't pleasant either. I don't know if I'll ever have reason to need a hotel in that area again, but if I do this will not be the first place I look - especially in that price range. It wasn't horribly expensive, but it was at least 10%-20% more than I've paid for much nicer places in the past.
