Would have likely rented a car, but there's nobody there on weekends, though there are flights on weekends and they either won't or will charge an extra $700 to rent 1 way. Basically worthless in the event that you end up in Escanaba due to unforseen circumstances.

Call scheduled a rental made us go to the national website said they have a suburban with the tow package we could rent. Tried to call the front desk four times, left a message to call back that was never returned. We went 20 miles out of our way to get this car got there and they didn't have it refused to work with us wouldn't help in any way.

I rented an economy car and was surprised to be able to upgrade to a Nissan Rouge at no extra cost. There was no wait time at pick up or at drop off as this is a small airport. I loved how the car handled and the extra space was awesome. Really liked having 4-wheel drive in order to drive dirt and gravel roads to far away waterfalls and hiking trails. The back up camera was very helpful and the mpg were around 28 with the eco boost feature. Overall, I was very happy with my rental experience.

The staff at the Escanaba airport in Michigan are excellent! Not only friendly but always have gone out of their way to make to sure our needs for a car/SUV are met. Thank you!!!!!

I recently visited Escanaba, MI and while there, needed a rental car. I am a National Emerald Club member and there happened to be a kiosk (the only car rental agencies represented at the Escanaba airport) for National and Enterprise there. Due to COVID restrictions (I can only assume) the kiosk was occupied from 3pm to 6pm. As I was with someone who had a rental car already, I didn't think it necessary to immediately reserve a car, though I knew it was inevitable that I would need one when my company departed. As the time grew near to rent a vehicle, I touched base with the agent and was told there were no cars to rent. I asked when one would be available (thinking a day or two in advance), I was told probably not for another 5 to 6 days (which fell outside of the window I would need the car by.) I stopped by the kiosk the next day and was told the same thing, so I went online and made a reservation for the following day, which was accepted by the system. On the following day, the agent called me and told me that there would be no cars available despite the reservation. I asked if he could keep the reservation active so that I could get a car as soon as possible, and he proceeded to cancel my reservation for that day and make a new reservation the following day (not what I had asked him to do.) I received a call from him later the same day saying he had a car available on an unexpected return and could get me into a car (the reservation had been moved to the following day). I contracted the car for a week. Although the appearance inward and outward was terrible and the gas tank was half-full, I was still glad to have a mode of transportation. My obligation in Escanaba came to a close 3 days later. I turned the car in and was charged the weekly rate ($300+) for a 3-day rental. When I queried whether this could be adjusted to a daily rate to lower the cost, I was told it would be elevated to a manager in Marquette, and subsequently heard nothing back. Bottom line: OUCH! Black eye for National/Enterprise. I have been very satisfied and well-treated up to this point, but this experience was not good AT ALL!

Went to the desk around 1pm and waited for 10 mins and no one around. Called multiple times before from 1100-1200 and no answer or machine to leave a message.

Staff unwilling to assist in a local rental. We were passing through the area and wanted to rent a car for a day. Staff answered the phone, but said they were closed (time 10:00 am local / within stated business hours). Said we needed to reserve online and stated they did not know if they had cars available. Poor customer service if you are unwilling to assist a customer in renting a vehicle.

Useless. They won't even open until after 2 hours from the flight arrival yet they are located at the airport. They got booked completely 3 months in advance and if you try to call with whatever dial you choose on the menu you will eventually get a very loud annoying tone , like ; how dare you call us .

I just want to thank National Car Rental for taking car of us. Coming in from out of town can be stressful and NCR helped eliminate stress. It was a smooth procedure to pick up and return the car. The staff was super friendly and helped with all our needs before and during the trip. I couldnt have asked for a more helpful staff. Thank you NCR!
