Recently tried out their four course vegan dinner with gin cocktail pairings and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience! The most memorable of the dishes was the stuffed Napa cabbage and the chocolate mousse dessert! The pomegranate reduction on the risotto was amazing, although the dish was called mushroom steak and only had a few small pieces of mushroom on top of the risotto. It was delicious but naming of the dish may have been misleading. The olives and ‘feta’ was just bland tofu so this was my least favorite thing in the menu. Overall the dinner experience was a super fun date night. Even my boyfriend who very much likes eating meat really enjoyed the vegan dishes. The cocktails were very fun to try and had me trying things I normally would not order. The atmosphere of the restaurant is perfect, excellent seating comfort and table room and very pretty plant themed decor. The chef came around to our tables towards the end and we enjoyed telling him what we enjoyed. The entire staff was great!

The ambiance is superrrr cute! Love the garden, I suggest making your reservation for that area the food was delicious! Favs were the Brussels, bacon and cauliflower!! All apps. I mean delicious! They have a full vegan menu which the cauliflower came from and I loved it! I am not vegan but do not discriminate against amazing food! The winter salad was delicious the red vinaigrette was to die for!! My husband and son ordered the hot chicken sandwich. They liked them but have had better. Batter fried to hard and thick. The wings!! How could i forget them! Would have liked a dipping sauce but they were so so good! Everything else was amazing though. We had an issue and the GM came to the table and addressed it. That's great customer service and why I won't mention specifics or mark them down. Things happen, it's about addressing it and making it right! The drinks baby!! I had a mock tail LEILANI and added rum lil pricey at $20 a drink but it was delicious!

Great vibe and staff. Vegan menu is a decent size but was slightly disappointed on how bland a couple dishes were. Overall the food was really good. There was a slight mix up that was no one's fault and it was handled with such grace and satisfaction. The staff is just truly beyond sweet and compassionate. They noticed a very serious convo going on and really did their best just to handle business and go about things, and went out of their way to wish us well on the way out. That little gesture was very kind.

A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I had dinner at Public House for the first time since the place changed owners. We don't live in the area, but were headed to the zoo for the Wild Lights exhibit and decided to grabbed dinner in Ferndale first. We liked some things about the new PB, but overall had a pretty negative experience. Here are the pros and cons:Pros:1. Our bartender, Lexie, was great and made a fantastic cocktail.2. The back room is much improved with a full bar of it's own and beautiful decor.3. We were able to get a table without waiting on a Sunday night.Cons:1. We really miss the hushpuppies and carrots from the old PH menu. We tried the new carrots and they were good, but not great.2. Not a fan of the huge tvs which make the front feel like a sports bar. Bring back the turntable and vinyl vibe!3. The first table at which we were seated was directly in the line of a constant blast of hot air that literally blew my hair around. The people seated at the next table said that the host kept trying to seat that table and everyone asked to move. (Why they would do this when there were plenty of open tables is beyond me.)4. The burgers/sandwiches aren't served with fries and an order costs way too much for the number of fries served (see photo)5. And the straw that broke the camel's back - the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich was literally RAW inside. Not a little undercooked - completely raw (see the photo) Unfortunately, I discovered this after eating a bite. The kicker was that they took that and the fries off the bill, but had us pay for the hamburger that my husband and I split as our dinner. Seriously it was the only other thing on our bill, as we had ordered and paid for the carrots and our drinks at the inside bar before being sat. I feel they should've comped us the burger as well. I was so worried all night at the zoo that I was going to be sick that it kind of ruined that experience as well.Needless the say, Public House is off of our list for the foreseeable future! The two stars given here are only earned by our positive experience with Lexie at the bar.

The ambiance was stunning. Sitting in a garden with my friends and family on my 40th was amazing. Some food was great some was mediocre. Service was atrocious! My waitress didn't even wish me Happy Birthday! I never paid any attention to her smug attitude and lack of pre busing due to my loved ones showering me with their presence.

Got the double burger with everything on it plus bacon and hubby got the Nashville hot chicken. It was all great. Even the pickles were great. Whatever the aioli is they use on the burger is excellent.

The bartenders special cocktail was a mulled wine sangria decorated festively with star anise, orange peel and a torched cinnamon stick. I won't complain about the service at the bar being slow as it was obviously the only bar tender was very busy. I left off one star for the two bathrooms being gender neutral. As a lady, I find it gross when I have to put the toilet seat down in restaurant bathroom.

Beautiful atmosphere, the outdoor area is my favorite, well lit, full of plants, colorful bar. It definitely has a trendy appeal to it. And the candied bacon is absolutely amazing, I could literally get a plate of that and be happy but everything I've tried has been about 4 stars. Highly recommendVegetarian options: They have an entirely separate kitchen for all their vegan dishes, that's dedication.

Finally made it back to Public House with our friends who live in RO - who brought us here originally! The menu is completely different from when we went before, many years ago. The sliders are mostly gone except for a few options. The menu is pretty typical of a gastropub, with the addition of a completely vegan menu which is cool. There was a bit of a wait on Saturday night, but we went to a bar nearby and had a drink while we waited. We got a text when our table was ready, and I was happy to see we got to sit in the back room with the "Instagram" wall and cozy vibes. We ordered the Brussels sprouts to share, which were very tasty! I loved the chile lime agave vinaigrette and they were cooked perfectly with crispy bits. I'd definitely get these again. For dinner I got the pastrami sandwich, and Nate got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. They don't come with any sides. The pastrami was definitely not your typical deli sandwich - the meat was a little dry, thinly cut, and not very stacked. However, I loved the deliciously melty Swiss cheese - it actually kind of felt more like a grilled cheese sandwich with some meat, but it was decent. I'd probably order the Nashville hot chicken sandwich next time - I had a couple bites and it was spicy and the chicken was tender and juicy.

We didn't have to wait long to be seated in the back area. We came here for brunch. The cauliflower hash was good. The fried brioche was soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The prices are high but it's a nice atmosphere and the service is friendly.

The term "public house" - or "pub" - conjures images of dark wood on the bar, barstools, and tables. The food you've come to expect is hearty, and I don't believe "vegan" is something that comes to mind when planning the menu for the day. Public houses are also inviting, and Public House is certainly that. Welcome to a very different kind of pub. Public House does much more than just sling burgers and brews. As your server will tell you, they have a tapas style menu, where small plates are encouraged. The food will be trotted out as it becomes available, so you don't have to wait for your friend's dish to finish while the rest of them get cold. There isn't much that you would confuse with a Spanish tapas restaurant, but it's a great concept. And, there are plenty of excellent selections. We opened with a toasted pretzel croissant, which looks and tastes like a pretzel, but is fluffy like a croissant. The cheesy mornay sauce and dijonnaise are the perfect dips. The massively thick-cut candied bacon was like eating slabs of piggy steak. I could see having this for a main course, but I got the slider trio as my main attraction. The beef slider has a flavor that would make any burger lover happy. The chicken and apple slider is solid, but the salmon slider is out of this world. The salmon is perfectly cooked, surprising for a small piece like this. And, the minted yogurt sauce is the perfect complement. I'd like to say I love them all equally like my kids, but the salmon is clearly better. The fried brussels sprouts were also very good. And, we added a pickle plate for $4. They make their own bread and butter pickles, which I normally hate, but which are very good here. Our friend got the Nashville chicken, which was massively crispy with just the right amount of heat. Oh, and the fries? Of course, you're going to get fries. But, these are crispy and more flavorful than you have likely had in a long time. They call them perfect fries, and it's hard to argue with that. The drink selections here are excellent, and the service was good throughout. There are so many things on the menu I want to come back and try them all. Keep in mind that the small plate concept of tapas does not translate to small price. Nothing is terribly expensive individually, but it does add up quickly. On the other hand, there is so much to like here that it does feel well worth the price.

We sat "outside", it was pretty cold but it's beautiful out here. I just wish it was a bit more warmth on the patio. It's not that much space on the inside but, If you like cozy indoor seating arrangements It's pretty nice. The food was bomb, so bomb I forgot to even take photos of some of it. The portion sizes were excellent. I'll definitely be back again.Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan options. A whole menu.

"It really pains me to write this review because I'm a die-hard Ferndale loyalist! However, I think our last experience needs to be documented and released for all to see because, sadly, our friend group isn't planning on returning anytime soon, and being a local yokel I've heard similar tales of recent woe from other Ferndaliens. IMO the downhill slide started with their recent menu change and has continued to descend rapidly into the depths of overpriced restaurant mediocrity. Let me be clear; this is an all-encompassing fall from grace; food quality, cocktail quality, and service quality. Let me also be clear our group is a bunch of former and current industry folks; we forgive often and give people and places many chances. It's a crazy time - people are trying their best. However, certain standards still need to be met and our experience on 9/14 was utterly appalling, even for a Wednesday night B-crew. I won't go into all the details but would like to focus on a few things. First, we were there to spend money, imbibe and tip well; because of the slow service - this never happened. Secondly, the sense of lethargy and laissez-faire that the entire service and inside bar crew displayed was beyond belief. The place wasn't busy, there always seemed to be servers chilling at the POS terminal yet food and drinks were constantly sitting around losing their luster. There were four of us and it took on average 20 minutes for us to get drinks after we ordered; food took even longer. Our server (who for her part seemed to be trying more than others) apologized countless times for incorrectly prepared or forgotten cocktails and food missing things (carrots didn't have pistachios or the sauce, etc). Why didn't anyone help this poor girl out? Third, and most importantly - we weren't treated like welcome guests. At the end of the night if a manager would've come to talk to us and apologize for the experience - water under the bridge; I wouldn't be typing this. Here's how our night ended - we hadn't seen the server for a half hour and three of us wanted one more drink. I decided to take matters into my own hands and walked the four steps from our table to the bar where the bartender had been standing idle for a while. I inquired politely about ordering more drinks for our table, and he said that they had already done last call. I told him that was too bad and we hadn't been offered last call by our server and asked when last call was. Last call was 10pm - it was 10:02 pm! I asked if I could just get a few beers; and was denied. The guy was very short in his responses and seemed annoyed that I was interrupting his deep thoughts. The server came back and once again apologized for the whole situation. She told the one of us who still had a drink to relax, there was no rush, take your time to finish - standard stuff, right? At 10:05pm - the 'get-the-f-out' alarmingly bright lights went on. This was the final straw, the absolute cherry on the poop sundae we were served at public house. Sadly, the poop sundae was our only dessert since we weren't offered any. We got there at 7:30pm."
