My friends and I stopped by Toast in Ferndale on the way out of town for a good meal. We were able to be seated quickly inside this quaint restaurant. The service was good. The bloody mary's were good. The food was delicious. We had a great time dining on the fried green tomatoes and cinnamon rolls before diving into some breakfast bowls. If you are in Detroit, please do yourself a favor and drop in for a delicious time!

My waiter was amazing. My food was very good and came out very timely. I even appreciate the fact that they kept me alert to my parking situation to make sure I didn’t get a ticket. Everyone was so friendly, and even my drink was made with Care my espresso martini.

I wish I asked what brand oat milk they use. Best oat milk latte I’ve ever had.Other than slow table turnover after people left (maybe understaffed the day I was there), everything was excellent.

So good, who doesn’t love Toast, it’s such a gem and truly a staple in Ferndale. Their bacon fried rice is one of their most popular items, I also recommend their banana coffee, any french toast items (they change these periodically), omelettes, mexi benny, and Parmesan grits, but you can’t go wrong with anything you order here, everything’s delicious. It’s a super eclectic, trendy, vintage atmosphere. The staff here is all amazing. Definitely try it out if you’re in town.Parking can be tricky and this is a really popular place, so plan to wait on weekends unless you come right when they open around 8am or so (could be earlier).

Really good food that's kinda overpriced. Bad server & had to pay 20% mandatory added gratuity.

Met a friend for lunch and had a nice experience! I started with a Curious George coffee (it's served cold), and followed it with the Corned Beef Benny and parmesan cheese grits... all delicious! Julia helped us and was awesome. Thanks for the great brunch!

When you make the mistake of going to Toast Ferndale around 2pm on 3/11/24 to only sit next to two people who apparently have stake in both Toast locations (owner and director of ops it seems via a quick public search on Google). As someone who has been a business leader for over 15 years, it is absolutely critical to know that you should not be near customers when you are speaking about the following:- making business decisions- hearing the server tell you both that she “put the orders in at different times so they (emphasis on the they as ‘other’) wouldn’t know”- speaking poorly of ‘your’ team (“they only want to smoke weed”)- wasting food that you have “taste tested” (“oh I’m sure they’ll like all these leftovers!” and “oh give them to.. oh you know. He’s a man. They’re like a trash can!”)- Not just critiquing the food, but speaking about how your staff doesn’t know how to cook properlyAll of this and yet completely ignoring the socioeconomic disparity between themselves and those who work in the food service industry because why would it matter to them? Not to forget because due to their loud conversation, they were there from the beginning- obviously they “get it.” From the search mentioned above and having mutual connections, the owner is also involved with local arts and theatre in the Ferndale area- so there’s the doubling down of “understanding” those beneath them. And while the food was enjoyable albeit overpriced, a solo brunch was ruined due to such arrogance and lack of self-awareness. I could not leave without speaking up about how poor of a time this was, to which I received a “I’m sorry” from both women and nothing from the male in question. To which I will repeat what I said here. You are absolutely not sorry. You actively chose to make such comments in public setting, and as owners of a local business you are subject to receiving this feedback as well. The negativity falls back on you as an owner.Perhaps it is time as owners and leaders in Toast, you invest your money in not trips to Croatia, but to Dr. Ken Blanchard’s “Situational Leadership II” and a DEI overhaul. But until then, continue on with your faux-liberal nonsense.

I will never eat here again. A company that serves food as a business has the audacity to charge a 10% service fee for you to eat there or order a carry out. So...they are charging you to give them your business. Am I the crazy one or is this insane???? The principle of it all is, I will never give them my business again and I am telling everyone to do the same. As long as we we keep giving these companies our business, why do they have to change their greedy policies.

I had a fantastic experience at Toast of Ferndale! Visited on a Friday afternoon for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the abundance of seating and no wait. Our waitress was exceptional, delivering speedy and attentive service throughout our meal. The Ultimate BLT was a flavor explosion, surpassing my expectations, and the bacon fried rice was a delightful accompaniment. The breakfast cocktails added an extra touch of uniqueness and flavor to the meal. Overall, a wonderful dining experience with delicious food and great service. Highly recommend! One drawback is that parking seems to be difficult to find and is always congested no matter the time of day when I visit. Very little parking on Woodward, and most patrons use the back parking lot thru the alley.
