I’ve come to this location many times, and almost every time the lobby is open during their open business hours but no one is there working. I’ve seen lines wrapped around the lobby for over 20 minutes without seeing or hearing an employee before I gave up and left. Seriously no indication that a person is even here working. I swear this isn’t a functional branch since it isn’t a one off issue, it’s like this all the time.

After scrolling through the reviews, I see I’m not the only one with my same complaint. The building was open but there was no one inside to service the customers. There was a sign stating they had “gone to lunch”.

Walked in at 3:00pm on Monday. There was no line. Walked right up to a nice lady at the desk that was quick to help. Told me my address was in the incorrect order on my package, but helped me correct it and explained it to me for next time. Quick, helpful, and friendly.

Employee working the front was very rude and seemed bothered to be asked questions.

This may legitimately be the worst branch in America. Based on the reviews they've lost many packages (among SEVERAL other issues) and now they've either lost or not mailed my bridge card renewal letter. So now I'm in danger of losing my benefits smh. Guess the important stuff is best left OUT of the hands of these idiots. Next time I'll have to drive out of my way n make an extra long trip n just deliver my mail my damn self, because they aren't capable...A post office, incapable of delivering MAIL! RIDICULOUS.

Standing in line due to a sign on the window that says be back in 1 hour. On lunch. No time indicators. At least have the decency to put what time you'll be back on. Horrible place

I had the best customer service here from Raven. She even took the time to interact with my daughter while she was helping me and I was filling out my mailing form.
She also helped me with the proper postage to make sure my son got a package in time! In a post Covid world excellent customer service can be very rare to find. Thank you Raven.
The facility itself is also relatively clean and it’s a quick in and out when getting your postal needs done.

I rarely leave Google reviews but this one needs one. If I could give zero stars to this “branch” of USPS, I would. Every time I go here there’s a novel issue that seems concocted by their employee that’s unique to this specific location. I had an issue here about 5 years ago and swore I’d never return. It was my goal to not allow them to get credit for my packages. I sell on eBay and ship approximately 800 packages a year. Last year I spent $19k on USPS postage alone. All of those (as well as the previous 4 years) were dropped off directly at USPS Hazel Park or PakMail in Hazel Park. Well, I decided to give the Ferndale location a 2nd chance. After only a month I was experiencing late shipments and missing (envelope) packages which I hadn’t been experiencing from the Hazel Park location. So I went to the location and told them that I’d like the envelopes scanned in - which I don’t usually request - but because I’ve had so many missing package claims I had to. They continued to tell me that they don’t have tracking and don’t get scanned in. I showed them exactly where on the envelope the tracking number was and where it gets scanned. They told me “USPS does not use that, only eBay does”. Well, they’re wrong. I confirmed at two other locations the information they were providing me was not accurate. It is scannable and it is tractable. I have shipped using this format for over a year and tracking, every other time, shows when USPS scans it and when the carrier delivers it. I can tell when and where each pit stop is along the way to the end location. This whole situation is yet another microcosm of the ineptitude of this branch. I’m sure that they are solely responsible for at least 10 items getting lost of mine in the last month. And it was so clear when they obviously didn’t understand their own product or service. I want so badly to support USPS so that mail isn’t privatized. But I’d give anything to have this branch closed so that this building can be repurposed into something more meaningful for the community. Do not go here. Ever. Go to Hazel Park. They’re incredibly nice and friendly there. They’re super helpful and never make stuff up to fulfill some sort of weird personal accomplishment.

Yesterday I experience one of the rudest postal worker I've ever dealt with at this branch. His greeting was "Yes?" as if he was doing me a favor. I was sending two small packages that were media. The cds were wrapped in bubble wrap for protection. And when I explained to him this was what he was feeling, he rudely informed me that "there's something else in there". I finally said just give me the packages back & I went to another PO where I was treated respectfully. This gentleman said his name was Mr. King when I asked. This is not the first time I have had a negative experience with this man. When I left the last time he waited on me several others left & commented on his rudeness. I will not be returning again to this branch. He needs better training & told that customers should be retreated with respect....he is not doing them a favor.

Literally can’t get ahold of a human when calling. It’s all bots and they don’t have a category for everything you need so you can’t follow the prompts to get through. Awful service.

I feel so uncomfortable coming here. The employees usually ignore me or are rude to me. Last time, two of their employees were speaking to each other in a hostile manner loudly in front of me as I waited for service. Whoever clerk 51 is was speaking to his female coworker in a way that made my skin crawl.

I wasn't going to leave a review but after the third time in a month of not seeing any employees, I feel I have to. I came in to ship things on three separate occasions this month. Every time, there is a big line, no one working the desk, and always a sign taped on the window stating they are on lunch break. Mind you, I came in on different hours on each day. I've never seen any employee working this location. I talked to people in line and a lady told me she has was waiting there for 45 minutes. The open hours for that day were only 5 hours so thats not even a long enough shift to take a lunch break. Perhaps this location is under staffed but the employees need to stop wasting everyones time and maybe have their lunch break at the front desk. That's what I would do. I am trying to spread the word to people I know looking for work so this location can resolve the issue. However, I am writing this location off completely for the time being. I've wasted too much time. This is unacceptable.

This is honestly the worst post office I have ever encountered. screwed up my international package... they lost another package that was supposed to be delivered Express overnight and was late. The woman at the service counter was quite rude and the second time I went back to have something addressed with the package that got lost. Literally nobody came to the window for 20 minutes there were seven people in line. This place should be shut down.

What can be said that hasn’t already? Save yourself the hassle and go to the Hazel Park, Royal Oak or Madison Heights locations instead.
