The community center is great. Basketball court, full exercise room with free weights, Olympic pool, kids water slide.. if you live in the community it’s a great escape from winter weather.

Membership Rate hike 2023/2024 is ridiculous! The weight/fitness room isn't the best layout. Machine bases and floors are filthy, outdated, and only a small area to do abs and stretching in which the floor is always dirty with debri. The weight area is tight and not enough area with only 2 benches and small mirror. The smell of vinegar is nauseating when windows are being cleaned. Hours of operation are always fluctuating especially the pool. The grounds used to be beautifully taken care of but sadly not anymore. The banquet area and meeting rooms are nice but if you're wanting a gym and pool membership or even a daily it's something to think about because other gym memberships in the area are far more worth it.

I’ve called and stopped in to get info and never get a clear or consistent answer. They should just shut down and save the rest of us the trouble of thinking we might use this place.

I'm so glad that Flat Rock Community Recreation is available for me. I will keep on enjoying all they have to offer.

It's been some years since I was a member at Flat Rock Community Center, but when I was, I absolutely loved it. I primarily used the gym, and I swear it is still the best place I have ever been to work out. I prefer it over all the chain gyms, the Trenton Athletic Club and the Detroit Athletic Club. Everything is always so clean, you never feel like it's crowded, or like people are staring at you. The staff and people that go there were always nice, everyone just kinda minded their own, and it made it such a peaceful, stress-free, anxiety-free place to work out.I absolutely LOVED their elliptical machines. I don't know what kind they were, though I want to say Precor (back in 06-08). I want that identical machine in my home, I loved it so much. I would literally be on it for 2-4 hours, 5 days a week, combined with using the weight lifting machines, and it was so nice to have the little indoor track above the court to warm up on and cool down on.I wish I could still go here, but I live too far away. I miss this place dearly!

Very nice but lately they aren't doing a good job of cleaning. And there are no wipes to clean the equipment after you use it. I just saw a man on a machine sweating so much his clothes were soaked. Come on they make enough to buy wipes. Very disappointing.

This is a beautiful facility. The outside of it reminds me of the main house from the Yellowstone TV series. It's made of brick and stone and looks simply majestic. There operation hours are perfect if you need to go to work early the morning and want to get your workout in before you head to the city.If you are a resident it is reasonably priced. If you are not a resident, it's similar pricing to a regular gym, which is the only reason it lost a star in my book.Outside of that, the people and staff are friendly and welcoming. They gave me a tour on my first visit. They have supplies you might need, like locks for lockers and swim caps, that are reasonably priced. The pool is warm and clean and monitored by lifeguards. There is a family area, but there are also dedicated swim lanes that are fully respected.I will definitely be back!

It's just sad.. coming here to play rec bball was the best back in the day. Now there's hardly any open gym and when there is it's a complete joke. No useable full size basketballs, floors are never mopped, nets aren't replaced. Just sad. Charging $9 for a day pass in this condition? You have to bring your own ball.. somethings gotta change if the rec wants to improve their business and get real hoppers back in the gym. From age 14 to 21 I was there almost everyday so I know what I'm talking about. Place was a home to me, but nah this ain't the home I knew.

Closed Sundays? You can't operate a community center that is closed on one of the two primary days the community would want to use the center. Policy should be changed or many memberships will not be renewed.

3.5 stars are really good but bathroom stalls need fixing and slide landing needs to be deeper
