This place is absurdly pricey .. the cheeses I considered buying were expired in November of last year etc .. not sure what the hype was about... Yeah they have a ton of rice... Big deal it's also absurdly priced.... This place is more likely a money laundering front than a legit business.

Best international market in the greater Flint area. The owner, Magdy, is an amazing man who sells the best lamb chops and other choice cuts of beef, chicken and turkey, makes homemade pita bread, and is an absolute joy to do business with. Feels like home. So many good things, huge selection of spices, gulab jamun, tahini, semolina, flours of all kinds, fresh meat, fresh pita, you’ll just have to stop in and experience it for yourself. Very clean and very well kept. Definitely try the homemade pita bread and garlic spread. Recently purchased kofta for kabobs and it’s the best! Can’t say enough! Thank you Magdy for all you do.

I read a lot of great reviews on here, so I recently decided to visit the market. The market was very clean, bright, and organized. However, from my experience the staff is very unfriendly towards African Americans. I wasn't greeted when I entered, and I had to flag someone to ask for the price of their chickpeas since it wasn't listed. He never returned and that's when I noticed that he went to help someone else. I left and went to Kamil's down the street and received better treatment. I will consider giving this market another try but if I receive the same treatment I will only go to Kamil's from then on.

I've been to this store many times before and Love it from the items available to the owner, his wife and daughter. Very pleasant people. But today... I brought my auntie with me ( her first time there). The way the owner Marco, treated my Auntie was AMAZING!!! So much respect, so knowledgeable!!! He catered to her like the princess she is. I'm flabbergasted!!! Helped her with her health, let her try things. But the best thing I learned today is that he will clean and marinate meat for you to cook at home on the grill. Listen... I'm a "Negative Nancy". I'm telling you this spot is amazing!!! It was reccomend to me and now I'm reccomending it to you.

The tastiest falafel in town! Order in advance and you won't be disappointed. I went in for the first time in about a decade and the new owner is very friendly and accommodating. Everything is spotless and the variety is outstanding. Even the prices are great! I'm very glad I decided to check it out in my search for fresh falafel

Always friendly and always something new! They have the best bread and garlic dip around, and I always come here to get my vegeta. When we went in today, they had a new yogurt in stock that we were excited to try. We always feel welcome here, and they always treat us like family. 11/10, would reccomend!

Update: the owner, who knows he was unnecessarily and deliberately rude, decided to reply with the same childish behavior so this is now a 1-star review. His rudeness, sensitivity, and inability to handle feedback and criticism is obvious in his replies to reviews that aren’t “5-star”. A simple customer interaction appears like an inspection to him because he can’t comprehend what criticism is. If you treated all your customers with a basic level of respect and kindness then you wouldn’t be so wounded as to take this as an attack.I am polite wherever I but the kindness wasn’t returned here. I thought maybe the disregard towards me was just a general thing so I didn’t take it to heart but the owner was very friendly to everyone else that came in the shop—greeting them when they walked through the door, telling them to have a good day when they left, etc—but for some reason his kindness fell short with me.I thought, no problem, since this was the first time I have ever been to this store and thought maybe all the other customers were familiar and frequent. But when I got to the register to check out, it was strange. I had only been waiting a few minutes, nothing too big, but when the owner finally noticed me and another guy behind me at the counter, he speaks only to the man behind me and tells him that he will get to him quickly and only spoke to him specifically—not me—even though I was ahead of him. I thought, hmm okay fine—maybe he knows that person and maybe he just didn’t see me from where I was standing or something. So I wait a bit more and the owner makes his way to the counter—a huge counter btw. And I thought he would greet me or something but he says… nothing. He says absolutely nothing to me and doesn’t even bother to look at me. And it’s not a language barrier thing because this same man has been chatting up the other customers in both English and another language. I think, hm. Okay. But what really brought me to write this review is when he handed me my receipt—or I guess I should say, *should* have handed me my receipt. Again, this is my first time here and I know in some places that sometimes there are two types of receipts: one for the customer and one for the business. So when the cashier pulls out a receipt, one that he neither handed to me or pushed to my side of the *very* big counter, I thought that it might be his copy of the receipt. After all, there was no indication that it was mine and again he made no effort to even talk or look at me so I assumed the transaction wasn’t over. Anyone cashiering will let you know when it is and he didn’t.So, naturally, I stand waiting for my copy but this man made no effort to let me know the transaction was over—not verbally or physically. And it’s after I’d been standing there for maybe 8 seconds that he *finally* decides to deem me worthy of looking at—only for him to look at me like I’m dumb and then finally slide the receipt towards me this time. And I felt a little silly because again he said and did nothing to indicate he was finished. But still I say, politely as always, oh, thank you. And again, the cashier says nothing and doesn’t bother to look me. Just pretends like I’m not even there and I’m a little taken aback because I’m not sure if I mistakenly offended him or something but, regardless of his apparent dislike of me, I tell him to have a good day. And if you can guess it, he says nothing. No “have a good day”. No “Come again”. No anything. Now, I disregarded the fact that I felt overly watched because this is a small business and it makes sense to keep an eye on customers. But with the culmination of all of these things it felt…. odd.And if you know what I’m talking about… then you *know* what I’m talking about.Overall, I now rate this place a one star. The hospitality I was given was nothing like what others described in the reviews. I guess it’s only reserved for a particular type of guest and I didn’t fit that bill.
