“I love the scent when I step inside. It harkens back to a meat market in Detroit when I was a little kid in the 60s. Now I wish Grand Haven had a comparable old world style bakery to match. Great sausages, fudge and stuffed cabbages. My favorite sausage is the smoked kielbasa. I shop with a strict list. My sister and husband go in and buy more than what's on the list. Knowledgeable counter staff. Friendly cashier. There is only one drawback. I wish the butchers would craft hurka, a kind of rice and pork sausage. I had another business custom make it and they put in all the best, lean meats. Real sausage uses heart meats etc. I'm old fashion, I know, but I like traditional hurka. It tastes better. For a decade I've asked the guys if they'd make some. So far none to purchase.”
