This place is wonderful! All of the ladies are very skillful braiders and they always braid my hair exactly how I ask. The prices are good and the environment is clean and welcoming. You can't go wrong at Sylvia's!

Before the appointment I called up there to specify the hair style I want which was medium, knotless braids boho braids. I came in with a picture and was very detailed in what I wanted. I told them that I would like my edged out because my edges are soft. They looked at the picture and said they could do it. In the mist of the Braider doing my hair I noticed that she was braiding small braids so I told her I wanted medium and she said ok but continue to give me small braids. I told her that I didn’t want a lot of braids in my hair and for the boho look, I didn’t want alot of human hair woven in with my braids either. The braider proceeded to give my a lot of small braids with the human hair woven in each braid! They switched Braider’s and I let the other one know that I wanted my edges out because she was working on the front. She said ok and only took a little bit of my edges and braided the rest of my edges! No one listened to what I wanted and did what they wanted to do. It wasn’t until they were about 75% done that they gave me a mirror to look at my braids but at that point there was no going back! They need to work on giving the customer what they want and not what they decide to do for that appointment.

I took my mom here to get her hair braided and not only did they take care of her but they did an amazing job on her hair! It was so neat and pretty, plus she loved it. She couldn’t stop talking about her experience. Thanks again ladies we will be back soon!

Very nice sweet lady but I feel like she had never done the style that I requested before and the style didn't look fresh and it wouldn't have lasted and it was definitely overpriced it didn't look like I just got my hair done it looks like the style had been in for weeks and I don't feel like she knew how to properly do the style so I went home and really looked at it and I ended up redoing my whole head myself a better way a more efficient way where my hair would last the way that it was done just didn't make sense after I figured out how to do it myself. I went to some other shops and their prices were $100 less than what I was charged. it wasn't a lot of braids and it didn't take much to do it, took me about 45 minutes to redo my whole head. the braids were slipping out and coming apart within like 2 hours and I don't get me wrong it wasnt horrible for those 2 hours but it just wasn't done right got me to pay that much. I'm not a professional so I wasn't questioning the way that she was doing it but when I got home it didn't make sense and I went on vacation so I didn't have time to go back and tell her how to re do it. so I'm sad I wasted alot of money I was able to get the distressed look I wanted with the braids also being tight and not able to come apart or see my hair through the braids and still knotless I just used a different method that was more appropriate for this type of style when you're doing jumbo braids.she is good at doing other styles just not the one I requested she was just as unsure as I was neither one of us knew what the outcome would be LOL so don't take this review as a reason not to go here because she's good at other stuff ! just cost more than the other shops around. I did also fix some of the parting that wasn't straight but that wasn't a big deal

I've been here to get my hair braided straight back a few times and never had an issue. I recently went there to get my hair braided with a design and the girl that braided my hair obviously wasn't comfortable with that design because she asked the manager if she could do it before she braided me.Once my hair was braided it didn't look anything like the photo I showed her. The braids weren't symmetrical and the design looked very poorly put together. The manager said my hair texture didn't match what was in the photo but I've gotten this style done very well at another braid shop and they never said anything about my hair texture.The manager got MAD AT ME because I didn't like the braids which made no sense. And she said her braider has done much more complicated styles than that but if that's the case why did she struggle with mine? She offered to take them down for me for $20 but because I was in a rush and had some where to go i paid for the braids as they were and left. I'll never come back to this place.
