Room 422 - $125/n - weekend stay in Mar 2024 Service 4 Room Layout 5 Cleanliness 4 Value 4 We almost skipped booking this property d/t the 3 star average on the ratings. I'm glad we took the risk. We booked online the day of our arrival into GRR. We received a text letting us know the room was available early & we could check-in anytime. As we were spending the day in Grand Rapids, we didn't get to the hotel until about 10pm, still a nice gesture. On arrival, you'll see the main hotel. Behind it are several motel- style buildings, forming a square. The glass doors open to the courtyard (inner square), and the main room doors open to the parking lot. Being early March, there was no need to worry about bugs being attracted to exterior lights and, in turn, getting in the room on entry/exit. The room was nice & cool on arrival & it smelled faintly of bleach. The temperature controls worked well. The bathroom was chilly. The toilet had some movement & the seat was an odd fit. Everything was functional. Next came the cleanliness check: bed & bath clean. There were fuzzies and debris in the odd nooks, the areas where a broom/vacuum can't reach. It baffles me why rented rooms are designed in difficult to clean layouts. Anywho, everything else was clean. There was also already water in the coffee maker. An accidental discovery on hitting the button when placing items on the table. The furniture is well-placed. No stubbed toes. The whirlpool is HUGE & was cleaned well. The sheets were crisp & we slept well. With the single level buildings, there were no noise concerns from above. Again, the temperature remained even. We didn't eat the complimentary breakfast.

If staying here, check your invoice. My invoice showed different name w/all of my info. It was quite the mix up & I was told by Best Western customer service that I would receive a complimentary credit for room due to mix up. Even had a CRticket # created for problem. I was on business trip so my room would have been paid by work. Once I was told had credit for room; I did not turn into work. Would have not been right. Got my credit card statement --- nothing was credited back. I contacted Beacon & talked to Autumn. Basically was told: Best Western cust service has no authority to give credit/ I stayed in room so no credit / my problem to try to get reimbursed by my work. The problem started at desk at hotel. Best Western customer service is reaching out to hotel again w/CR ticket info to see if will help me. Please watch your invoice so don't happen to you. It's a costly mistake for me.

If you stay , make sure check invoice. Mine had someone else's name w/all my info. It was quite the mix up. contacted Best Western customer service I was told I would receive a complimentary credit. I was also told by Carmen(employee) that a credit would be issued. It was a business trip & work would have paid for room. I didn't submit room voucher due to being told about credit. When my credit card statement came there was a charge , but no credit. I called Beacon Best Western in Grand Haven, Mi. Spoke to Autumn(mgr) , I was basically told " Best Western customer service does not have right to issue credit ; her employee meant credit if double charged (that is not how I understood our conversation) ; not her problem I wasn't reimbursed by my work . The problem started at hotel desk . They created the problem. I shouldn't have to lose money cause she won't honor the customer service credit request. Please be aware of info on invoice. They could not explain how it happen so it could do it again. If Autumn does not honor the credit request by customer service then my whole day's pay will be gone due to paying for room. I don't think that is fair. I didn't create the problem.

Stayed in the older unattached part and when we first got there it was getting dark outside and the lights were not on yet, which made the parking lot and doorways extremely dark. The lights didn't come on later but it was too dark for awhile.

Good stay and overall experience! We stayed in the courtyard rooms and enjoyed the easy access to our car and the view of the courtyard. They were large, newly renovated, and clean. But, the interior rooms may offer their own advantages to some, such as access to the breakfast room and a more secure feeling. Although, Grand Haven in general is a fairly safe community.

I was online looking for a nice place to stay for weekend visiting family when I saw this place I went on there room site and was excited to choose my room which was a ground floor with a patio to the courtyard and it looked like a nice view. Until my arrival date when I was surely disappointed when told I will be on second floor which I had mentioned I prefer ground floor with the court yard view. Next they changed up my room to ground floor which I thought was nice until again I drove to the room which was not attached to the hotel it was more like a motel with two levels and my courtyard view was a parking lot with a ugly bush serving as a fence blocking the railroad tracks was very disappointed. Overall the place was quiet not being in hotel part but the room was very musty smelling and very outdated, The price was high too high for this kind of stay.

If I had a negative star I would place it the rooms are not on the main hotel. My area was unattached from the main hotel it looks like a motel I couldn't cancel there is no way I'm going to be walking to go to the pool walking in the middle of the parking lot and cold on a bathing suit. Rooms are dusty and look old. Make sure you call reception so that this doesn't happen to you I'm just hoping there are no bed bugs because the aspect is not presentable.

Omg NO. RUN!!! If you book through any other website than the best western website, you will be placed in a MOTEL. They literally have MOTELS on the property next to the actual hotel. The motel is filthy, hot and full of BUGS! If you do stay here make sure you're getting an actual room inside the property, not a nasty for hour looking motel

The hotel is located on 31, the gateway to Grand Haven. It is walking distance to many restaurants, and we actually walked to the Lake Michigan State Park, and to downtown Grand Haven. The walk Is about 2.5 miles to downtown, ( we are in our late 60’s, and it was an enjoyable walk)The hotel has two hotels an inside hotel where the main lobby, pool and exercise room are located. In the back there is a separate older hotel with a beautiful courtyard. The room we stayed in was a King Suite, which included a sofa bed, microwave, refrigerator, coffee machine and two televisions. The king bed was very comfortable! The only problem was the sink wouldn’t drain. I notified the desk several times, so hopefully the next guest will not have to wait for the sink to drain.I would like to recognize Autumn, At the service desk. She was truly exceptional and assisted me in the check in process. She was friendly, professional, polite and had a positive attitude! I love to recognize people who go that extra mile to accommodate their guests, and Autumn does! She is a role model for every customer service representative! Great job!The hotel is safe and parking is free.

The room was clean and comfortable. Ask for a room away from the highway, and your room will be quiet. A dedicated breakfast attendant is needed, as one day that we were there, the food ran out and another day, the plastic forks ran out.Walkability: We were able to walk to a nearby restaurant.

The room was dirty! There were crumbs on the floor and hair on the bathroom floor. Staff was friendly and offered a new room but when we went to the new room it was worse with handprints on the mirror and dirty floors. We stayed in the original room and the response we got was, " that's surprising, we never hear that our rooms are dirty." I checked reviews after the fact and it appears they have heard the same complaints. The only reason we didn't leave is because the beds were clean, and pretty comfortable. I wouldn't stay here again.

The room was not dusted prior to our arrival. There was a large amount of dust on the lamps and dust on the dresser where the TV was. The beds were comfortable. The hot tub was good. The coffee was great. We didn't complain because we had unpacked but next time I'll be sure to check! Grat location and beautiful grounds!!
