First time into a D&W and I was pleasantly surprised. I loved this store and I am willing to pay a little bit more for a positive experience at a market. It was extremely clean and I will be back.

Update: emailed customer service with no response. Spend the extra money and go to a quality store nearby.I was going to their deli once a week. No longer will I go here. For some reason, when three certain employees come out of the kitchen and see me standing there. I'm not recognized. They typically walk to the back counter or onto the floor. I have to say, can someone help me? Most of the statements made to me by these certain employees are what do you want? Enough! Customer service needs to change. I spoke with the assistant manager, who took down what had happened and was told that Andy would call me. No call. Going on a week now.

Went to grab some hot service food, since it is about 9am I was hoping to find a couple things ready. However when I arrived, I discovered the most filthy food service wells I’ve ever seen. I questioned the worker and was told they are cleaned every single day. Yet these photos were taken weeks apart. I also have taken photos of these food wells every single day for nearly 6 months. I will be contacting my local health department before this place kills someone.

This place was a good place to shop 10 years ago. Today we get nothing but dirty looks from the staff. The prices aren't competitive in fact they are the most expensive place to shop. Nothing is fresh either I have to dig to find something that doesn't expire today. They keep problematic employees with sexual harassment complaints from other employees and managers to even customers who walk out when they see said employees or managers

Solid full service grocery store. Really good deli, butcher often has good deals and the meats are really good quality. Bulk goods, specialty stuff, good produce with a lot of organic and local veggies. Nice beer wine and liquor, not the hugest selection, but covers all the bases and most liquor is state minimum price. Yeah its a little more expensive, but the basics are all there when you need them. Staff is always helpful too.

It's a good store, great employees, but they really have to do something about their meat department. Food safety there seems pretty sketchy. I got one of their packaged New York Strip cuts that said it was packed the day before, but for some reason was brown instead of red. Okay, I figured it was just exposed to oxygen and that's normal. The packaging was intact. Then I opened it up that night and it was rancid and super-sticky. I'm guessing it either sat out all day before they wrapped it, or they had it in the display case for a week, it didn't sell, so they wrapped it up and tried to sell it that way. Either way it violates food safety guidelines. Then their fish station is open-air. A bunch of fish sitting on ice that people can sneeze on. Except the fish gets piled on top of each other, so the bottom fish are against ice but the top of the pile that they grab from is probably room temperature. Same with the cooked shrimp. I wouldn't touch any of that. Also they're in a higher-income area (East Grand Rapids) but rarely have nicer cuts like New York Strip or Fillet Mignon. Maybe that's a business decision but they're missing out. Then they rarely have chicken wings. Doesn't everybody like chicken wings? And when they do have them, it's the entire wing, uncut. Everybody else everywhere at least chops it into drumettes and wingettes and sells them like that, because they don't grill evenly when they're connected and not everybody has a bone saw or giant chef's knife to chop through the bones and joints. I thought that's the whole point of meat cutters preparing the meat for sale? Their meat department is just weird.Deli is okay but quality of the pre-prepared foods that is the current rage of high-end grocery stores is pretty poor. They rarely have staples like potato or egg salad and their pre-prepared meals are pretty poor. Sushi is okay though, and they have a good selection of cheeses.Overall though, their super-friendly staff, good selection of produce, sauces, eggs, dairy, soft drinks and sport drinks, beer & liquor and everything else other than meats makes it a decent community grocery store.

A very good place to do shopping. Very fast to checkout and don’t forget to use “yes ”card before you start scanning. This way you get the low price offers. Thank you D&w!

The store displayed cupcakes on the end of the check-out conveyer belt today. I've never seen a store put items on the end of the belt like that so I thought they belonged to the person in front of me. I put them on the belt, thinking the customer just forgot to move them to the belt. When the check out person saw them, they rudely told me to put them back and informed me they were promotional items. I'm tired of rude workers. Looks like I'll be shopping elsewhere.

This my favorite D & W. Extensive deli, seafood, butcher, produce, etc. All are well stocked and maintained. Seldom a line for checkout. Also a Starbucks and a working Coinstar. I wish I lived closer.

Their meat market is a great place to get your fresh meat cut up to your liking. Great service and great staff behind the counter.

The Breton village D&W is larger and nicer than the Gaslight village location. They have a wide variety of usual groceries; however, the prices are a bit more compared to places like Meijer. They had tahini which Meijer no longer carries, but we're out of mint during my most recent visit. I tend to only stop at D&W to pick up a few items and if it's convenient for me.

D&W is a great place to grocery shop. I miss having them in Walker! What a difference compared to Family fare.
