Genuinely love coming here to get my braids done. As a single mom of 3 it makes it a bit more attainable.
That said, the real reason I have enjoyed my braiding sessions is because the students help one another out, give each other constructive criticism and do a stellar job, the instructors are so good and float around to make sure everything is ok. The energy I have received from the students and faculty who have ended up braiding my hair is excitement and achievement and confidence. Love it.
Something to keep in mind is that for braids they are learning and growing. You can’t expect something from students that someone with 20 years of braiding experience can give you.
I absolutely love my hair from here. Thanks Peyton and Lydia!

This was not my first time visiting Douglas. I previously had a haircut here, which I really liked, and that positive experience is what made me return for highlights.
This time, however, I was quite disappointed with the service. Before starting, I showed a reference picture of the highlights I was hoping for, but the result looks very different. I’m attaching a photo of my hair now for context.
After bleaching and washing my hair, the student went straight to blow-drying without applying a toner. She also wasn’t very gentle during the blow-dry, pulling my hair roughly while detangling. From my past experiences with highlights, I know toner is an important step to achieve the right shade and reduce brassiness. When I asked about it, I was told there wasn’t time since it was close to closing, and that toner would also be an extra charge. I was surprised to hear this, as toner is typically part of the highlighting process. If extra product is needed, I can understand an additional charge, but skipping toner altogether doesn’t seem right. Even the highlights wasn’t properly done.
I also want to mention that I booked my appointment in advance and arrived on time at 12:15pm, so I was surprised that by 4:30pm the service felt rushed.
I truly appreciated my past experiences at Douglas, which is why I chose to return, but this visit left me feeling very unhappy with my hair. Right now, I feel embarrassed to go out with it looking this way. I hope this feedback is helpful so the same experience doesn’t happen again in the future.

I got to Douglas J for all my hair needs. Everyone is welcoming and my hair always turns out amazing for a way lower price. I go to Koda and she outdoes herself every single time!

I have loved this school. So professional and customer service driven. The front staff is always kind and helpful. All the “supervisors” are amazing too.
The best facial and skin services for such a great price! Went to Kylen when she first was on the floor and loved her so much I came back her last week to get one last facial. Also loved every interaction with Abby. Such a great ending to a night of pampering!
My only criticism is the music in the room was not pleasing and took away from the experience.

Alyssa did a great job with my chin and upper lip wax! She was friendly yet professional, And very much paid attention to detail! My chin and upper lip feel super smooth! I would definitely recommend Alyssa and will come back to her!

I have gone to Douglas J before for a stress relieving treatment before but it has been YEARS.
I went on Sunday and had, I think her name was Emma, and it was a great experience. She was kind and created a space where I felt safe and relaxed. Well worth it and I think anyone should go and take time for themself.
I also got my hair washed and a blowout by Kaelin and that was a great experience as well. She made me feel cared for and she took her time to make sure I left feeling confident and beautiful.
Both of these students were excellent and I am glad to have gotten services provided by them.

Maddie was spectacular in her knowledge of facials. It is obvious she takes her job seriously and has learned a wealth of skills. I enjoy the relaxation and pampering of my face from facials. Today Maddie provided the best facial imageable! Highly recommend.

Took my son for a perm today… let’s just say there are no curl small wave…questioned it when we were checking out and got some excuse he didn’t want any product…. Never again pay more and it your hair done right!!! Worst perm he has ever got waste of time and money!!!

Wow...stopped at Aveda ....Alexis did a wonderful job for me. She listened carefully to how I wanted my hair cut. She was friendly, caring and thorough in her explanation of the Aveda experience. I received the haircut I was hoping for and will return for Alexis to cut my hair again. You too....could stop there!

Had a fun time learning but there was something definitely missing after going into the real world and starting my career. The teachers IN FACT did not go over draping protocols and I’m seeing that a lot with more estis from Douglas J come to the spa I’m working at. Please go over draping thank you!

Gabby (sp.), I hope you find this. I absolutely love the haircut! She worked to make sure I was happy with the result and asked questions for clarification. I was nervous to try something new and usually have to get used to first tries on my hair, but I am super impressed with how it turned out; so much like the inspiration I shared with her! Thank you Gabby!
Requested style: I requested a chin length choppy shag with side-parted curtain bangs. Something more feminine than what I'm used to.
Hair type: I have fine, thick hair that usually hangs flat and straight though with some natural wave. Gabby styled my hair and gave product recommendations accordingly.

The person seemed nice enough taking me back. I told her I wanted a balayage and a root touch up to cover my grays. She did a strand test and told me my hair was healthy and good but the bleach would break it. Never even offered to do the root touch up or anything besides doing a mask and coming back in 2 weeks. I drove an hr for nothing. She didn’t even offer to do the root touch up still. I spent 30 mins on her chair where 20 mins of it she spent talking to her friends waiting for the strand test. Went to another salons and they did it no problem.

I love Aveda I've gone here for haircuts 4 times and each time has been an amazing experience. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable about hair and the prices can't be beat. I really wanted to get bangs but I was nervous that the hairdresser wouldn't get it exactly how I had envisioned it given that I'm not the best at explaining when it comes to hair lol. Ryleigh was super helpful and she asked me questions that narrowed down exactly the look I was going for. I know I can trust her when it comes to my hair and on top of that she is friendly, personable, and genuinely kind. I always feel very confident whenever I leave because I know my hair looks exactly the way I want it to and thats not always the case when you go to a hairdresser!! I will always recommend this place to people who want a quality haircut and experience as well as a great deal:)))
