Dykstra’s took good care of my Mini Cooper. They did an alignment and were very friendly and professional from the handling of the appointment to pick up. I’m happy to have found an alternative to the dealer for my older car.

Can't help but feel ripped off. My Honda Civic battery warning light turned on. Took it to Dykstra Auto on Patterson/44th St SE in Kentwood, MI. They promptly replaced the alternator, which I appreciated, even though it cost over $600. Then less than 4 minutes down the road the battery warning light turned back on! I get it, mistakes happen, but had they charged the battery I could have at least made it home. So I limp back to the shop. I ask for a loaner and they say they don't do loaners! How do I get home? They then offer to take me to GRR Airport where they'll reimburse a rental. I appreciate that, but I travel a lot for work and a Preferred Avis member...I don't want to wait an additional hour or more for a rental at the airport. They then agree to cover my LYFT ride home, which was $66. They never reimbursed me. They say it's covered in the "discounted" price they gave me for the SECOND alternator repair. I look at the itemized receipt, and it does not show any such reimbursement. They then charge me an additional $250+ for the SECOND repair, saying it's only for the cost of the OEM part. I get it, OEM parts are expensive, but this whole experience has left me sour. Am I mad at them or cars in general? I'm gonna say both. This tells me they didn't make good on a botched job.

Had issues with my Jeep - twice - battery issues and a misfire. Both time the team was extremely responsive and helpful through out the process. Carvana ended up paying for the majority of the expenses but the quality of work is superb! I rather take my car here than a certified Jeep dealership. ThanksSo much for you amazing service!!

Had a lengthy/cumbersome list of items for them to take care of which they did at a reasonable cost and in a timely manner. The 5 star rating is 90% due to them fully warrantying the cost to fix a portion of an expensive repair that they had done over a year & 35k mikes ago.I’m a picky SOB and they have earned my business.Services: Auto exhaust system repair

Stathis pleasant to work with, and the service is so convenient if you're leaving from the Grand Rapids airport. I returned from my trip and found my car already for me to drive home. Highly recommend them.Service: Oil change

Today while visiting Dykstra's auto, the front desk representative kirk delivered a very saddening experience. During previous visits to this location, I would get a call and a price point before making any decisions. Unfortunately there was work done on my vehicle without permission and I was almost charged for it. When I asked how come this was the case, I was faced with aggression and the question was deflected. Dykstra's auto does great work, and really saved me in the past, but because of this poor experience today, I wont be coming back.Service: Vehicle Inspection

Would not recommend, they charge a fair labor rate but have a 3 - 4 times mark up on their parts and will not allow you to bring in your own parts either. I was also quoted refurbished parts that were still triple the amount of new OEM prices, even from the dealership.I then asked the advisor at the front desk if we could have any additional discount as we were looking at thousands in repairs but he would not go down a dollar and said those are his best prices. I ended up going to another local shop and avoided $400 in part price mark ups.

Don’t recommend Dykstra’s on BeltlineAfter spending thousands on repairs they won’t acknowledge additional issues they may have missed after a follow up visit.I towed my jeep into Dykstras week of 7/20 as it was leaking oil and wouldn’t start. Dykstra advised a oil pan, starter, water pump and axle seals which was then repaired. A about a week after the service was done my engine started to make a ticking noise and was also still leaking what I thought was oil well after the service was completed. I then brought my jeep back to Dykstra’s and asked them to inspect the noise and leak. They brought it into their shop for a quick inspection and said it’s nothing to worry about and it’s just grease residue and that there was no oil leaking. Then the following day there was still something leaking but trusting their word that it was fine I continued to drive. Then my engine ended up blowing a hole in the valve cover leaving it not drive able and almost catching my car on fire with oil going all over the engine bay and exhaust while driving.I then called Dykstra back for advice on what I can do and they have said it’s not their problem now at this point. They won’t return voicemails or a message I left after one of the lead technicians was on vacation.

I got a flat while driving on the highway and was only able to make it to this random Auto Store called "Dykstra's", and I'm so glad I did. The staff was kind and eager to help however they could. They got me patched up and on my way! I don't come out this way often, but they're definitely a business that's on my radar now.

Have had a fee different vehicles serviced here over the past few years. Always very professional and accommodating. Prices are always in line with other independent shops. Love the free shuttle too. Will definitely be back.

I had a hole in the transfer case housing due to the internal fluid pump wearing through it. I called Dykstra's and gave a detailed explanation about needing the "pump rub" repair kit installed with a new transfer case housing, which Merchant Automotive in Zeeland makes. I was assured they could complete this and scheduled service for 7:30am Thursday June 1st. I received a call Friday at 2:30pm with pricing for the repairs (I also needed ABS diagnosed, CV axle replaced, Fuel vent line cleared, Front driver side caliper diagnosed, and front shocks replaced). I declined all but the CV axle, and transfer case due to price. I called and talked to Kurt Monday at 7:30am to ask the status, he tells me its on the lift with the wheel off, and he will call back in 10-15 minutes once the techs arrive. I call back a half hour later, and he says there is a small hole in the transfer case housing. The hole in the transfer case is the reason it is there! He has Derek call me back who apologizes for all the confusion and gives me options for a $2,500 transfer case replacement. I give the explanation about the "pump rub" repair kit again, which I am now told they do not perform, or have never performed.I use my truck to pull a trailer for work, and have now been unable to work since last Wednesday, and the transfer case is in the same condition. At least he removed the charge for adding fluid to the transfer case with a hole in it.This was my unpleasant experience with Dykstra's, hope this helps someone.Update: Charged me for 2 sway bar links under the CV axle replacement, and only replaced one. Wouldn't go near this garage with a ten foot pole.

I am originally from Portage but my wife and two kids found ourselves in some car trouble traveling to Grand Rapids for dinner today. We luckily made it to the shop around 2pm after having alternator trouble which led to our battery draining. The staff came out and gave a free inspection in their parking lot, even running back and forth to the shop to grab equipment. Thankfully they recommended we not try to drive it back to portage as our battery died while running there in the parking lot. The staff let us sit in the waiting room as long as we needed to figure out how to get it towed back to portage and get a friend to come pick us up. My kids are 4 and 10 years old and they brought out snacks and water for them and even turned the tv to a kids movie of their chosing. To be as stressed as my wife and I was for them to welcome us in as non paying customers was nothing short of awesome. I have zero doubt that this place will take care of any customer that comes in for whatever reason. Please give this place your business as we are actually im debt to them just for their gratitude.Service: Vehicle safety inspection

Brought a vehicle to Dykstra's Airport location and Derek went above and beyond for us! I'm looking forward to using them in the future! Highly recommended!
