The room and facilities were fantastic. However, it was extremely disappointing to learn that self parking in the parking garage is not included in the room rate. $40 to park overnight when you're staying at the hotel is absurd.

I recently spent two nights at this hotel while in the city for work, and overall, I had a great stay. Parking was easy with both self-parking and valet options available. The front desk staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and the lobby was spotless with a fresh, pleasant scent — a great first impression.
My room was beautiful, modern, and very clean. I especially loved the cozy corner sofa and table, which made the space feel more like home than a typical hotel room. The bathroom was well-equipped with both a tub and a standing shower, though the sink area was a bit smaller than expected.
I did try the on-site restaurant — while convenient, the prices were on the higher side and the food was just okay. If you have other dining options, I’d recommend exploring those instead. There’s also a Starbucks in the lobby, though be aware it closes at 2 PM, which was earlier than I’d hoped. The mini market downstairs was helpful for quick snacks, but I was expecting a wider selection.
A highlight of my stay was the housekeeping staff, especially one kind lady I encountered twice in the main lobby. She greeted me warmly every time, even called the elevator for me — truly a standout in terms of hospitality.
I also took advantage of the gym and pool, both of which were very clean and well-maintained. Unfortunately, the sauna was closed for maintenance during my stay. My room was located near the elevators, and it did get a bit noisy, especially with music playing in the hallways late into the night, which made it harder to fall asleep.
Despite a few minor inconveniences, I’d definitely consider staying here again. The cleanliness, comfort, and friendly service really stood out.

This was our first time staying in downtown GR. Our business meeting was in another part of downtown but we simply used the Skywalk to get us there. This was probably the 2nd nicest hotel I ever stayed in. Rooms are top notch. The view is top notch. Service was top notch. My only small concerns were that the distance from the parking ramp to the desk is quite a walk (valet available but I'm too cheap), only one person working the desk when we arrived (long line), and noise in the hallway past 10 pm (we had a meeting to get to early the next morning). All in all though a great experience.

JW is stellar. This hotel never disappoints and the name speaks for itself. It’s worth every penny!

We had a wonderful stay at the JW Marriott Grand Rapids! The hotel has recently been renovated, and the room was beautifully designed with every accommodation you could hope for when away from home. The valet staff was incredible — they were always on the move, quick, friendly, and so eager to help with anything we needed. Their service made our stay seamless and truly enjoyable. We will definitely be back!

JW Marriott Grand Rapids – June 27–29, 2025
I stayed in a King Room with a view of the river, and the room itself was lovely—clean, spacious, and comfortable with a beautiful view. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience did not reflect the premium price tag (totaling $900 for two nights).
Hotel amenities were underwhelming and cleanliness in shared spaces left much to be desired. A persistent and unpleasant odor lingered in one area of the hotel for the duration of our stay, which was poorly masked by a cone air freshener placed in the elevator—more of a temporary cover-up than a solution.
Additionally, I had left some laundered clothing behind, and when I contacted the front desk, I was told it had been thrown into a garbage bag and left in a pile for me to retrieve. For a hotel of this caliber, this was surprising and disappointing.
Overall, while the room and view were enjoyable, the lack of attention to guest experience and cleanliness elsewhere made the stay feel far below the standard expected from a JW Marriott.

One of the best hotels I've stayed at for work. Great bathrooms and rooms. The food and exec lounge are also very good.

The rooms are clean and the hotel is in a great location. My only reason its not 5 stars. The pillows, in my opinion, are terrible. I'll just bring my own next time
