I have shopped at Talsmas for years and never had a problem. Until now!! I went to the warehouse sale. I purchased several things including a sofa. After spending $1500 for the sofa within 2 weeks the sofa was having issues. I called and spoke to the manager who promptly told me " to bad " because I purchased it during the big sale. Great unfriendly customer service. NEVER SHOP there ever again!!!

NOTE: Reviewer's location is Grand Rapids, MI. Extremely disappointed in giving a 'family-owned' company the benefit of the doubt with our purchase of two power recliners one year ago. They have turned out to be very low quality. I wished I had read these reviews before doing business with Talsma. I strongly urge you to shop with caution and not feel swayed by the home-town sales pitch. Within 6-8 months, one of our new recliners required a service visit due to its sagging seat. And FYI, my 92yr old mother weighs all of 110lbs. They replaced the seat core cushion twice and on the last and third visit they shoved some loose stuffing in the back cushion. There is basically no attempt to retain your business or address the quality and durability issue. After reading several reviews here, it is definitely a quality issue. "We don't make the furniture, we just sell it". Mine is not an isolated case. We were told in the end it was an 'individual comfort issue' and not a defect. I have never had to address furniture issues before and as I explained to the representative on the phone, I am not comparing their furniture to high end furniture. I simply expected much better quality, durability, empathy, and customer care. Fair warning to you fall and holiday furniture shoppers! Buyer be very aware.

Nick, the manager, was absolutely awesome . All the staff was extremely courteous and friendly. Customer service and customer satisfaction definitely play a great part in this furniture sales outlet.

We spent an afternoon looking for a new recliner for my elderly mother. Jacquelyn was incredibly patient as she helped us find the best option for our situation. Her input was invaluable.

I didn't want to wait 6-10 months for furniture so I asked for delivery dates prior to my selection and didn't ask for customization. I found a couch and chair that the salesperson said would deliver in 10 weeks. They never contacted me with updates and when I called them I was given different delivery dates each time. After 20 weeks I asked to cancel my order. I was given the run around by managers and the owner. One specific manager was extremely rude and told me to feel lucky I wasn't in the furniture business. They stated I had a custom order even though I made no changes from the floor displayed furniture. 24 weeks later I finally received my furniture. Terrible customer service and salespeople are not knowledgeable of the products. They make you feel like you matter until they have your money.

Clean, organized, and a large selection of quality furniture. The staff are very attentive and willing to answer any questions. My only comment: not a complaint is that the prices are a little high on my retirement income.

I am only giving this 1 star because I cannot give them 0 stars. Our immediate and extended family have been shopping here for decades. I am not sure what changed, but their customer service is now horrendous. Additionally, the quality of their products has declined considerably. We purchased $5k+ of furniture with them and NONE of it held up for longer than a year. We purchased the Montage Furniture Services warranty, as well. That has been a disaster trying to complete a claim. We began the process last September. It is still not resolved. I would assume since Talsma sells the warranty package, they would be more concerned with how that company handles its warranty claims. They are not. We have been treated rudely by the sales people, they have been rigid and unaccommodating, and they do NOT stand by the products they sell. We will be telling anyone who will listen to NOT shop there and to NEVER purchase the warranty they sell. It is a scam. So dissappointed!

We purchased a table set was over $2500 and we purchased it because we were told that it was the hardest surface that we could buy and scratch resistant. After approximately one month , (but we only actually sat at the table 4or 5 times)we noticed several scratches on the table. I contacted the store and after alot of back and forth, I finally got ahold of the manager who told us that there was nothing that Talsma furniture would do , because" if you place sand paper such items on the table, such as plates and bowls are, the surface will scratch." ??? It's a table! So I am stuck with a two thousand dollar eyesoar! If I was told by the salesperson that this surface scratches so easily, I would have selected a $899.99 laminate table! When I said that to the manager, he told me this surface does not scratch easily...as long as you don't place anything hard or sand paper like items on it, Oh and it will also scar from heat, which I also saw but didn't realize that is what they were from, heat leaves shiney like splotches. I know that all wood can scratch, but I have wood in this house that is 30 years old and not scratched up as much as my one month old table. I am not happy at all with my purchase , this should have been, for the price, a table that I can have for years and it looks horrible after one month! ( The manager agreed with me that it looked bad)

I bought a custom U-shaped sofa for $5000, with attached pillow back that are deformed now. The black lining underneath the sofa has disintegrated into a black inky dust that stained the carpet and anything it touches. Tells my customer service wants to charge to come out and replace the black lining for $75.

Stop in this store on Monday of this week. I was looking to replace all of my living room furniture. I noticed 6 people working behind the counter and after walking around the entire store, not one person asked if I needed help! Guess I'll have to spend my money somewhere else!!

I am looking for family room furniture for my new house. I stopped in one morning on my day off to try to find a sofa and chair. I went in the main store and walked around for about 10 minutes and sales people were everywhere, but no one spoke to me. I was the only single person there amongst a few couples. I felt very discriminated against, and for a reason I don't really understand. I left feeling annoyed and discouraged, and went over to the other store with more modern furniture. Again, there were many sales people. I was sitting on sofas and chairs, looking all around the store. A few sales people made eye contact, and a few totally ignored me I was there 20 minutes and NO ONE spoke to me at all. I saw some things I was interested in, so I went up to the counter where some of the sales people were standing. I asked if there was someone who could help me. I did get some help and some information, but I've decided this is not a store I would ever wish to buy from.

We shopped at the Hudsonville location - Excellent experience and I'm in love with my new furniture I ordered on my first visit. The salesman was not pushy at all and was knowledgeable about the product. The delivery experience was excellent as well! So happy with my experience!

I gave them the benefit of the doubt when I ordered a custom bed and it took forever to come in. I went in and ordered a custom sofa & chair in May and was told 6 to 8 weeks. It's now going on week 14. Was supposedly shipped 2 weeks ago. The communication has been horrible. Just like when I ordered the bed. So disappointed in myself for not learning the first time. I use to go out to the 84th St location and never had an issue. The East Paris location is terrible. Will never order from them again. And will make sure and let others know.

Bought same sleeper sofa at Van Hill Furniture in Zeeland for $400 less...Talsma has a lot of stores and high overhead and its prices reflect that. If you shop at Talsma expect to pay through the nose.
