This review is for the Food Services/Group-Lunch Assistants. I was given the opportunity to help out with the team serving lunch. Everyone was fantastic and the process was very organized. More importantly it provided me a chance to see how our community is actively responding to the scourge of addiction and homelessness in our area. Thank you Mel Trotter for continuing this work and allowing me and my colleagues to play a part yesterday.

The store on Kalamazoo in Gaines. Expensive and the experience I had I never wanna go back. There was a sticker on a product for $3.99 on the front of the box. I saw it on the shelf like this so I bought it. It had a sticker I didn't see on the bottom of $9.99. he charged me 9.99. I said no there is a sticker on it for 3.99. you can tell it was placed on there by an employee because it was not ripped. He would not honor the price. And legally in Michigan they are supposed to honor the lower price. Also that product at 9.99 nearly the price of a brand new one.

Our family loved being able to help out and serve and this year. We know you are always trying to review things to help improve the event. A few things that we had questioned was the parking, we would have appreciated better instructions how to get into the parking garage. The prep for the meal is always helpful but it seems like setting out the salads before people were set seemed to be very wasteful. We noticed a lot of salad being thrown away, and with all the other main meal food being thrown away was quite a concern. We understand the health code but feel like there has to be a better solution. We did have a nice couple at our table that really appreciated the meal, they would have been perfect situation to offer them the leftover food. We also had a couple of other volunteers that sat out able and ate as well as another person that seemed to be know by a few people from Mel Trotter. Like I said earlier we did enjoy ourselves and love coming to this event every year but just a few things we had questioned.Thank you for all the work that was involved.

What an amazing and well organized program in every way, in creating an atmosphere of love to all who participated and attended Mel Trotter's Thanksgiving Feast! It truly blessed my heart to be a part of sharing God's love to our community.

Avoid this place to keep your health and dignity. The majority of "staff" which most people refer to are 3rd party security guards. Some are better than others though. Bottom line, this establishment should be renamed "Homeless Inc" and be chartered as an entertainment venue because it's all one clever joke while you get served meals.

So NUMBER 1 THEY NEED TO ACCEPT PHONE VALLS OR AT LEAST VALL THRM BACK. HAS NEVRR HAPPENED UN;ESS YOUR GIVING , MONEY!!many of the homeless generally dislike this place. The workers have been here a long time, maybe jaded but they actually care about their jobs. Unfortunately there are few that outright lie or give false information so that they can either get a homeless to be upset and forced to leave or just for the fun of it which sets up. People are at their weakest for failure. They need more accountability and the people in charge have to come together and see that there needs a centralized system. Did I mention that no one will ever return your call unless it's you trying to give money? Plus it's really insulting when you live here and people just outright lie to you. It doesn't make you feel safe and there's no reason for it.

I came here for the first time just under a week ago after the city inspector condemned sevetal units in my slumlords. Building. I lnow its a shelter and not a five star hotel. Howevet my experience has been one filled with disrespectful staff who should be ashamed of themselves.I read tje ceo statement online which is awesome however the people he employs obviously have intentionality of tjere own. And it is not to help people. Having had my spirit broken by becoming homeless.trying to continue to work and keep my sanity is challenging enough. Adding to my challenge by treating me as if its my fault doesn't help. Thats what mist of the staff uve encountered does. Every question ive asked has ended with being treated like an innate. If anything peoplecwho work here will push you to let go of that last string your holding on to. I found one compassionate person working here who treats people with respect and dignity his name is Warren and i commend him for being so decent to me when he did my triage intake. He was so proffessional and humble and probably the reason i didnt come aoart at the seams.Thank you warren.

We used to love Mel Trotter. Always something there for us. However, I was looking at a desk that had the sliding pricing, and after xxx date, the desk would be $15.99 (a good price as the desk was in pretty bad condition and needed serious sanding and refinishing). We went in a couple of weeks after that date just to shop around, and imagine my surprise when that exact same desk was in the display window priced at $75.99! This was about the time that all of their prices were marked up to obscene prices. We will not shop there, nor will we donate there any more. Huge rip-off for donated, thrift shop items.I know it's "for a good cause" but if no one will shop there because of the prices, are you money ahead or money BEHIND?

We had some furniture picked up from our house, and they ripped the power line off of the side of our house, and then damaged the furniture and the house (ripping a door hinge out of the wall and destroying the frame), and didn't make much of an effort with the repairs.Their stores are the most expensive thrift stores in the area. They're not compassionate toward the homeless.Need more be said of a ministry?

Proud to be a part of the aweseome staff and mission here. This place has grown so much in just the two and a half years I've been here, and it's so reassuring to see that each new change is considered with the guests' best interest and dignity at heart. That makes me proud to work here, which isn't something I can say about every organization I've worked for. The relationships I've been able to build with the people we serve has been a blessing.

Do not trust these ppl, thay will lie to u. I had a meeting with the heads of all the dept. And still have tex to prove it. I was told to leave my hotel room to come there. When I got there thay told me I could be there. Then my case worker sent me some were else and went on vacation and never reached out to me the whole time I was there. I went there looking for help for me and my son. Thay told me I should just worry about my self. Again have tex to prove it. Not only that every night there was a stranger sleeping in my bed. Thay told me to get over it. Thay only want government money the whole time I had a job and thay still didn't help only gas lighted me.will be going to New and Social media to prove every thing I'm saying.
