A bank teller refused me entry to my account told me I had no business on the joint account my name is on. Told me I have no business knowing my mother's information who's on the account with me refused to do any transaction on my account. Told me it was against the credit union policy complained about me being on our account checks on balance regularly on his own. Set the pin for our account I told him that was illegal and he couldn't do that! He told me just because the other account owner is my mother I shouldn't know her business. Went out to my car and continued to refuse my transaction in told my mother if anything happens to our account I did it. I should have called the police on him right then in there I was so shocked I couldn't believe it. I called in reported him the woman Melissa pretended to be so concerned and helpful. She later got smart mouth and disrespectful with me when I had to call in about him a few more times. Nothing was done about it every time I go in he goes out of his way to see how much I'm withdrawing and what I'm doing in the account at both locations. He even has the security guard jumping up every time I come in the door for no reason. This bank teller is a total stranger and this is the experience I get! Every time at this credit union my mother in I are two different colors there are no other reasons he'd be doing this now he's gotten even more comfortable doing it. I'll definitely be calling the police on him with no problem!

I was charged 6 times in overdraft fees for a total of over 120 dollars, only one charge in my account was going to put me under and it was only going to be -$10, this should be criminal, it is predatory bullcrap and I expect better from a credit union, I haven’t even bothered to get my money back because this isn’t the first time and they outright refuse

Worst fraud prevention ever! We feel like their employees are stealing money from their customers, and they are refusing to work with their customers on refunding the money. We received a call from their number from an employee who had full access to our transaction history, full ssn, full date of birth, username for our online banking, access to devices that were logged into online banking, and security question answers who told us our account was compromised and had us turn off our cards in the app and change our password with him over the phone. The next day, all of our money was gone, and on top of it, they were able to withdraw more than what was in our account which put us at a negative. The first solution from the representative we spoke to inside the branch Peggy Greene was to take out a loan to pay back the negative balance, when we asked her how they had all that information if they were a “fraudulent” caller she stated they are creative nowadays. We received another call like this back in March due to their system being compromised which was exactly the same minus changing the password. We immediately filed a police report and the grpd officer himself stated this sounds like an internal breach. We were told our dispute was denied by Lisa Burr probably because of the BBB complaint and IDFS complaint. I would think twice about opening an account with this credit union, they do not stand behind their customers at all.

Michigan First has the worst fraud protection of any bank that anyone has ever heard of , even the Kent county sheriff department cannot believe that they will not stand by their customer .when you get scammed they blame it on you and they will not help you get your money back or refund your money. They just say it’s your fault and you’re out of luck and they don’t care. I was scammed on May 22, 2024

Horrible customer service!!! Extremely combative & defensive when presented with a question. Johnathan has a attitude problem and projects his frustration off onto the customer. Johnathan needs to learn how to de escalate & problem solve. Training would be great for him. Also he gave off a judgmental here comes a black person vibe. My son has sever Autism and I have Guardianship over him, once I presented this document to him he looked at it like it was fake. The audacity of this man smh. My son will be taking his business elsewhere after this.

They say there is no fees and if you do not agree to use over draft they still will do it and charge you fees and over draft. They will steal your money.

Our mortgage with LMCU has been a disappointment from the beginning--we wanted to use a local business. My wife and I both have accounts at LMCU, but the mortgage payment has always been from mine. When LMCU upgraded their online banking, access to the mortgage was switched from my account. Both of us would have to take time off from work to talk to someone in person to fix the problem, or submit our account numbers through email--we declined. LMCU just updated their system again and this time, LMCU switched the default account for payments to an account at another bank entirely. I attempted to make two payments against the principal, so now I'll have to contest the bank fees as well.

I used to LOVE LMCU, but my relationship with them is getting sour. I've used them for about 15 years now. Last year, I took out two car loans. One for myself, and one for my son who purchased my old car after he graduated from college. I set up the loans to automatically make payments from my (and my son's) checking accounts. Fast forward a few months, and I just opened my LMCU car loan account in the customer portal because my payment didn't process on the day it was supposed to. To my suprise, the credit union had been charging me $45/month for life and disability insurance with LMCU as the beneficiary. To be clear, this insurance is OPTIONAL. The agent didn't tell me they had added it to my loan at closing. They simply checked a small box on one of the dozen forms I had to e-sign. This happened to BOTH my loan and my sons loans. Not only did the sneak the insurance into my loan package, they charged me 10x the going rate for term life insurance. I only borrowed 17 grand, and they were charging me $45/month. For that price, I can get nearly 400k of term insurance. Despite this, I am still giving them two stars, because the rates they have given me historically on my loans, and the interest they pay me on deposits, beats any other local bank... But shame on LMCU for these deceptive money grabs.

I received a loan from Lake. Michigan Credit union for a new central air conditioner. It is through a program named Michigan Saves. I would not reccomend any one to do business with them. They are very hard to work with. My payment. was supposed to come directly from my. Credit Union account. Not Lake Michigan Credit Union. They don't admit when something is there fault. So I tried to pay with my debit card. They were. going to charge me 15 dollars processing fee. This is the worst financial institution I have ever been to.

LMCU will steal your money out of your account. They borrow customers money, and refuse to replace it. Do yourself a favor, and keep an eye on how much money you have in this bank.

Worst experience ever. Was told to leave because of not wearing a mask. The mask is absolutely useless!

Scammers. Don't tell you about their minimum balance fees for savings accounts, their loan providers (auto dealers) don't tell you either, they then lock you out of your account because you're below minimum, and their call support is terrible - two different reps kept changing what they were telling me.

John is a great person to work with. He knows a lot about different mortgage products that are available.
