Northpointe Bank is NOT a bank, it is a debt collection agency that happens to also service mortgage loans. They are NOT concerned at all with customer service. Everything is automated and that is their excuse for not bothering to pick up the phone and call me when there was an escrow recalculation that necessatated a change in my monthly mortgage payment. They received every single monthly payment on the first banking day of the month for 5+ years through my banks bill pay system. When my first monthly payment after the recalculation was $57 short...BOOM they reported a default to the credit bureaus knocking my 820 credit score down to under 700. No they couldn't be bothered to check my credit score. One does not have a credit score of 820 without being financial responsible over a long period of time. But no, Northpointe Bank couldn't find the time to pick up the phone and call me or my wife when the payment was short ...due to the escrow recalculation. WATCH OUT FOR THIS "BANK" AND AVOID DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM AT ALL COSTS!!

By far the best experience I have had with the bank. Communicate information in a timely manner. I recommend them for banking.

Terrible communication, classic bait-and-switch with the interest rate, and zero care about their customers. Sold my loan 3 weeks after we closed to another company which adds to the lack of care this branch represents. I would use literally any other place to get your loan funded. 0/5

A colleague recommended Thomas S. Tara for my HELOC Loan. I reached out in December of 2022 and Thomas and I begin the application process. He was guiding me and I was completing all of the necessary homework. I spent hours gathering all of the documents needed and sent them over to him as usual via email. Without notice, he stopped answering my calls, emails, text etc. I tried for months to reach him. At first I worried something tragic happened to him. I thought there was no way he could be that unprofessional. Knowing my family was depending on this loan! Knowing I was about to give birth to my first child and needed this loan to put my family in a better place! Then I worried that it was a scam! How could he not even give me a curtesy call/text/email something to advise if he wasn't going to continue assisting us?! I had my newborn on February 13, 2023. My last attempt to reach Thomas and his office was in May of 2023. It's September 2023 and still no call. Needless to say I gave up on expecting anything from this unprofessional man.

Worst Mortgage Experience Ever! As a real estate investor, I have gone through the mortgage over 2 dozen times. I chose Northpointe after a recommendation and the mortgage officer provided better rates than another bank I was working with. The processor gave me incorrect information about how/where closing funds could come from, luckily I verified before I liquidated those accounts. She would not answer telephone calls or return phone calls. Only communication was via email and text. I was given a final CD 4 times only to be asked for additional documents after we were told we had final approval. The day before scheduled closing, they verified my wifes employment. We had been working with them for over 60 days as we had an extended closing timeframe. They requested "one" more document 3 times in the last 3 days. The house we were purchasing was in another state and we were doing an in person closing. The day before closing, we wired $121,000 in closing funds. On our 6 hour drive the day of closing, I received a call they couldn't close the loan because my wifes credit score had dropped 2 points (718/720) below the threshold - which they knew 2 weeks prior and never said was a problem. I called the other bank I was working with and they were able to close the loan in 8 days! Do Not Use Northe Pointe Bank

Northepointe has been a wonderful day to work with, and helped us through our first home purchase. They were very accommodating informative throughout the whole thing even when we ran into considerable hurdles, they were thought leaders in guiding us on what we should do next, and ultimately led us to getting our first dream home. Thank you, Northpointe.

My loan officer discussed rates with me for a various period of time. Through the initial planning were talking about a 6.25% interest rate. When he sent me initial disclosures the rate showed 6.50%. I was obviously upset and confused as that wasn't what we were discussing. I spoke with my loan officer and he assured me that was worst case scenario. He talked me off a ledge. Over the next few weeks leading up to our closing date I would ask him what the rates were and if we should lock our rates. He said no and that they were creeping downward. One week I asked him and he didn't respond. It was approaching our closing date and wanted to have a good idea of what I was walking into. He sent me new disclosures that showed 6.99% AND I was paying 6K in points to get that rate. We never discussed points at all. To rectify the situation he suggested that we refinance in 6 months free of costs. I asked him if I needed to get that in writing, but that's what they offer everyone apparently. I will never use Northpointe or Michael Scrimager again. I'll suggest the same thing to everyone I know and warn them of the shady games he and his company plays.

READ THE FINE PRINT. all other savings accounts transfer money within a day, this place withdraws the money from your active account holds it for 5 days (they use your money, you get no interest) then electronically send to the receiver, understood this and set a withdarawl of **,***.** dollars a week before it was needed, received confirmation e-mail and on stated day money not sent, but had only been withdrawn from account the day I set up for the original transfer a week earlier, then received an email stating you funds are being transferred and 5 days LATER payee received the funds ???????Originally got MM saving account due to higher interest rate (not worth the aggravation in the end). account now closed and it took 5 transfers to do it, due to their "limit" (TOOK A FEW WEEKS TO GET ALL THE MONEY OUT)

Let's put it this way. I have no idea how and why this bank is still in business. They are screwing people on their escrow accounts and there is no chance to speak to anybody about it but to some low level who would answer the phone and tell you "your case has been escalated ".After months of trying I contacted Michigan consumer protection agency and this is when things started getting resolved. They understand only if you bring the big stick.

I closed an All In One loan with Northpointe Bank on October 12th of 2022 in *********. The process of getting the loan and closing was smooth as silk. The *** loan itself has been exactly what was promised even with the Feds raising rates. I am paying less interest than I was on my previous loan with a 2.5% rate due to how we set it up. Thank you Northpointe!
