“I stopped by Leigh’s today and had the most awesome experience with Rebecca James (Becks) . I was in a wonderful large dressing room with fantastic mirrors and Becks brought me in one beautiful, fantastic fitting outfit after another. She immediately picked up on my taste in clothing and the best styles and cuts for my petite silhouette. I did not know it was possible to have a shopping experience like this! She spent hours with me and checked in the room regularly. She was so friendly, warm, inviting and helpful!! I have found my shopping expert for life. “Dear Prudence is a cute little boutique and has a variety of casual and dressy outfits and a wide selection of jewelry and accessories. Their stock changes frequently and there's also something new when I visit. Prices vary, generally anywhere from $25-$70 for most items. They also have good sale prices! Service is friendly and I would recommend for anyone looking for something unique and new for their personal or professional wardrobe.”

I came leave to pick up my rock revival jeans and not only did they give me the jeans an hour ahead of when they opened but they did not charge me for delivery of the second pair that had not arrived yet with Federal Express. He listens to customers and knows what it takes for a repeat customer. Thank you.”

“I’m not going to dock stars just because I personally think prices are sky high; obviously there are a few guys willing to pay them and someone behind the scenes is trying to make it in a tough biz. But $50 for nothing-special sweatshirts and $40 and up denim (which feels like 1/2 the store), I don’t understand this store at all. $80 for some basic Lands End type coat was just mind numbing.
The couple times I’ve tried shopping here, not once have I bought anything. Just 20 reviews in 2+ years being open lends credence to that. I will say it is a beautiful, intimate store that’s well organized; and there are some cool pieces especially if you’re into any Detroit teams/local collegiate.”
“Prices here are all over the map, so check the tag of whatever you just found before you decide if you love it, but there are some really great deals tucked here and there. They are also the ONLY store in the city to carry women's size 4 and 4.5 shoes, and I'm very grateful that they do!”

“I’m so glad we have a store like this in our community. I had a great conversation with Marta when I stopped in yesterday and bought a super comfy organic cotton cardigan. This store represents the mindset shift that is so desperately needed around clothes, for our health, for the planet, and for workers’ rights. Clothing is an investment that should be chosen carefully and made to last using natural materials and planet-conscious production methods. Garment workers around the world have been abused for far too long, being paid so little for their skill and labor and working in unsafe conditions. “I had been a regular customer of WHBM for many years. I moved to Northern Michigan and retired, so no longer needed dressy/professional clothing. My mom passed away last week in GR and I needed a dress for her funeral. I first went to Macy’s and found that there were limited dressing rooms available and very long lines. I didn’t have time to wait. It dawned on me that WHBM is now in Woodland Mall. I walked into the store and Susan, the store manager, remembered me. She totally “styled” me. I cannot tell you how much that experience meant to me. Department stores cannot provide personal, knowledgeable attention from someone who knows their collection and what will work for you as an individual. I am firmly back in the WHBM fold whenever I am in GR. The clothing is beautiful and if you need a special piece, this is the place to go. Again, thank you Susan! You made my day!”

“Unfortunately I find that items are overpriced compared to other consignment shops in the area and there are no returns which is unfortunate considering other consignments do offer returns. On my last visit I found a dress with the original tag still on, the original store had marked it on sale with a sale price of $55 and urban exchange was asking $104.It’s a bummer that folks are asked to set beverages down while shopping, not a great customer experience especially when located a few doors down from a local cafe and I love to sip while I brows.”

“I love thrift shopping, so while I was in the area for a disc golf tournament at Brewer Park, I searched for thrift stores in Grand Rapids. Elevated caught my eye with its intriguing name, and it did not disappoint. The place is much bigger than I expected, and everything is thoughtfully arranged. I had a fantastic time exploring—it's a true thrifting adventure with just the right mix of quirky items like creepy baby dolls, disco balls, books, and offerings from local vendors. I'll definitely be back with my thrifting friend the next time we're in town for a disc golf tournament. I found some great pieces at good prices that I'm excited to refurbish.
