I was buying a new truck and I grabbed the last statement from them. I was going to use them (again) but, when looking for their contact number, I noticed that they withdrew $2.00 from my account and stated the reason of "Paper Statement Fee". I also noticed that they put the monthly statement in with a state mandated tax document. This is wrong in so many ways... First, I was never told that this would happen and if this is something new, I should have been notified (beforehand). Also, I question if it is even legal to charge me for sending a statement when it was accompanied in the same envelope as a mandated tax document. I called them to cancel my account and the gentleman that answered said that I can only cancel by coming into the branch (an hour away) or send them a letter stating that I want to cancel. I understand the reasons. So I mailed them a letter requesting that they cancel my savings and send me the remaining money. About two weeks later I received a check from them and noticed that they took an additional $2. I can only imagine that they charged me for canceling my account or for mailing me the check. This is slimy and unethical.

We have been members for two years. We were with a different credit union for over 30 years and just felt like a number. We love the personal attention we receive here. We just took advantage of their low rate heloc loan. The loan process was so simple. The loan closed in such a short amount of time. We also have a low rate car loan as well. I highly recommend them for all of your banking needs!

UPDATE: Brittney (not sure if I’m spelling correctly) reached out to follow up with me and apologized for what happened with the call center and refunded the fees that I was charged. She was very kind and listened to my concerns and told me to reach back out if I have more issues. The initial interaction with the call center was not great, but I really appreciated that Consumers reached out directly to make it right. Especially since this was my first interaction with them. I would still recommend being careful with checking the pending transactions before transferring funds as the balance on the main page my not be reflective of your available balance.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Their app is not intuitive. Doesn’t show that there are pending transactions on the balance and resulted in me being charged fees thinking there was more in my account than there actually was. It also shows I transferred funds twice which I did not. I called for assistance and was met with an attitude. When I told them I was dissatisfied with the resolution and that I would be moving my banking and car loan elsewhere I was told “well that’s your choice”.I have a car loan with them, and had decided to start using them for banking since I had the account for a car loan. I am moving my funds to another credit union and I am currently seeking to refinance my car loan with another bank to get out of Consumers Credit Union. I can’t recommend them for loans or banking after this experience.
