We had a wonderful time at Ellis Lake resort. Stayed in Birch and enjoyed all of the special touches of the cabin. Clean and homey! Campfire at night, hikes to the beach, and more! Thank you for your hospitality Tee and Becky!

Our daughter stayed there last weekend for a wedding. Her cabin had the stove left on prior to arrival. The gas smell was horrible. She was told to open the windows and turn the fan on. She has had a headache since. I guess the toilet, sink and shower were clean but the rest of the cabin was not. The floor was dirty so she never took her shoes off. Pretty sad they didn’t offer a different cabin or a discount. She will never stay there again.

Ellis Lake Resort is a true hidden gem. We got married next door at Bluebridge Events Center, and rented out the entire resort for our bridal party. The cabins are a 5 minute trail walk from the venue, so it made for a wonderful “summer-camp” type experience. Each cabin is so unique, and has a beautiful charm. They are all outfitted with AC, full bathrooms, full kitchens, and comfortable beds/furniture.I cannot speak highly enough about Becky & Tee. Becky runs the front desk, is very communicative, and does not hesitate to go above and beyond to make you feel at home.Tee is the head housekeeper, and is an absolute gem of a human being. During our 4 night stay, she worked non-stop to make sure that we were well taken care of. She organized the moving of tables, created custom citronella planters, and even made us an herb garden keepsake! We look forward to visiting here again, as most of our guests expressed interest in making this camping trip a yearly occurrence.

My husband and I stayed at the Red Bud with another couple for a kid free weekend and had a wonderful stay. We are already planning our next trip back! The cabin was exceptionally clean. Plenty of clean towels and linens. This cabin was secluded at the back of the property with trails leading to the lake. The private hot tub was perfect to relax in after a day of fishing and exploring Traverse city. The owners are so nice and helpful. The Bud's cookies and fresh flowers are such a welcoming touch upon arrival. Can't wait to come back and bring the kids with us next time.

My husband and I spent 2 nights and 3 days for a get away and some fishing with our dog. When we arrived to the doghouse cabin there was freshly baked cookies and flowers on the table. The cabin was very nice for 2 people and a dog. When we went to go fishing there is a boat at the lake ready to go. We really loved the style of the rustic cabin. Fishing on Ellis lake was descent. It could have been better but weather condition was against us. We’re happy with a few fish we caught. The receptionist Tina was very nice and friendly. She explained a lot of things that made our stay much more enjoyable. We’re looking forward to returning to Ellis lake to do more fishing and sightseeing with our dog. Thank you Ellis lake and Tina for a nice 3 day getaway.

No frills accommodations next to a (loud) busy highway. To be fair, we were warned in advance about the adjacent busy road but in our naïveté we thought, “how loud can a road be?”. This is not a typical relaxing “resort”. The “Cedar” cabin we stayed in for 1 night was $146 plus $10/dog per night (we had 2) plus taxes and fees, for $187 for 1 night. The cabin was basic. The floor had not been vacuumed and was filthy with dirt, and the bathroom was not clean. Beds were moderately comfortable and linens were clean. The cabin had two queen beds and one futon, a small kitchenette, a bathroom, a wood stove, and a dining table. My primary gripe with this “resort” is this: the price was quite steep for having the mandatory rules of us being responsible for stripping the beds, putting dirty linens and used dish and bathroom towels in a bag, cleaning the kitchenette and any used dishes (washing and putting away or else we would be charged a fine), and bagging up the trash and depositing in a dumpster. Also, there was an envelope left on the table for us to provide tips for housekeeping staff?? Bewildering. Additionally, despite paying an extra fee for pets and staying in one of the designated pet-friendly cabins, there were instructions to keep pets off of beds and furniture “as much as possible”. They provided “pet sheets” and “dog towels” for covering furniture and wiping dirty paws. It did not feel “pet friendly”, it felt “pet tolerable”. While we were told about the loud busy road, we were not told that we would be responsible for housekeeping tasks (did not feel like a resort vacation) that, again, were mandatory or we would be charged fines. We stayed warm and dry despite a heavy rainstorm and cool weather, but I do not think the steep price is warranted for basic accommodations.

We truly enjoyed our stay there, we went in January and we had the best winter experience in the cozy Elm cabin. We took our corgi with us and she loved the walks to the lake and the trail. Traverse City is about 25 minutes from the resort. The amenities are good and the staff hospitality is fantastic.Becky and Teressa were so kind, we will definitely be back.

We stayed the weekend a few weeks ago for a wedding, stayed in the Chalet. Location to the venue was the reason this resort was recommended, and that was the only good side to our stay. We found the Chalet dirty, an inch of dust under the beds and cob webs behind the headboards. The bathroom shower handle was literally "hanging" and not functioning properly, almost scalded myself twice. The shower liner was for a shower stall and not bath enclosure, thus you had to be careful not to trip on its to to mention moldy on the bottom! The sliding door frame was broken so you had to lift the slider and slam it to get the door to close. Then there was a mouse issue! I can handle rustic and outdated, cannot handle dirty. Not what I expected for $239 per night.

This has been a blast. The kids love it here. It feels like camp here and for that I am thankful.

I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE ... the Owner is extremely rude and thinks it’s ok to lie and blame things on you.. she’s very unprofessional becareful she likes hanging up on people honestly if we wasn’t BLACK I don’t think she would’ve treated us like that shame on her. First cabin experience and it was terrible. Don’t take your KIDS you will be charged $50 if your kids leave a mess everywhere because their house keeper is too lazy and doesn’t get paid to clean... Mouse problems so if your not use to mouse don’t stay here. Pictures are deceiving the unit is extremely small if your a bigger person like myself you can’t fit in the shower. Also make sure you know how to make a fire before going. If your looking to have a family trip or even a romantic trip with just you and a lover THIS IS NOT THE PLACE.

You will be CHARGE EXTRA FEES if the room is dirty(not destroyed but dirty) MANAGEMENT AND THE OWERS are very unprofessional housekeeper is to old for the job she cant clean... huge mouse problems they highly recommend you to starve and not take food to keep the mice away. Just don’t touch anything or you will be charged without any exclamation ... BECAREFUL their taking half of what’s on your card it’s not fair what they’re doing to people.... they’re all just lazy and extremely unprofessional..

We had a great stay here! We were pleasantly surprised by the kindness of the staff (homemade cookies and cake made for us!), and we loved the homeliness of the cabin. My fiancee and I spent three nights at Ellis, and we're convinced we'll be coming back! The lake was beautiful, the small hike lovely, and its location perfect for two visitors of Traverse City.Definitely recommend for anyone else to try!
