Hands down, this is the best down-to-earth, friendly pet shop experience on the east side. They will special order any dog food you need and make recommendations for foods that will help your furballs. Their prices are less than other high end places, and everyone in the store is super friendly and personable. Not only that, if you're looking for a cuddly animal fix or feathered friend fix, there are always animals to hold and friendly birds who will climb on your shoulder and possibly whisper sweet nothings into your ear (or nibble your shirt). Added bonus...toys for hard core chewers like pitbulls. Added added bonus...raw goat's milk for doggos who need an extra digestive boost. Try it out! You'll love Lou's.

ANYONE IN THE METRO DETROIT AREA LOOKING FOR ANY TYPE OF ANIMAL NEEDS TO COME TO LOUS!!!!!!!!!!i just went to this absolutely incredible land of animals and i want to spend the rest of my life there, donnie the owner is an absolute legend, all the other staff were super helpful and friendly and caring people, we just got two little baby rats as first time buyers of rats and from lou’s, they are absolutely beautiful and soft, and they’re so friendly, donnie made sure the little babies had a better box than other pet stores give and generally took better care of the animals than i’ve ever seen before. donnie opened up a brand new cage that had just gotten shipped for us and showed it to us, he also got a cage out of the back he had been using in store as a budget option for us which was so incredibly nice of him i did drive 30 minutes to his incredible store but i loved every second of the experience. donnie you’re an absolutely incredible man, keep doing what you’re doing king ? p.s sorry about the bird, he climbed on me and started going to the iguana and wouldn’t come down?

Place is terrible. All fish have clamped fins and are sick. Really disappointing. Fish abuse. Every tank has starving fish, empty stomachs sunken in. I’d be embarrassed

Hands down the best petshop around. This is not just a pet store, it's a destination. The atmosphere is amazing with animals at every corner. The entire store is clean and tidy, the animals are exceptionally well taken care of, great selection of food, supplies, enclosures and the staff is not only knowledgeable, but they are friendly and talk to you, not at you.If you haven't been here yet, you need to get there soon!

Great shop! Very clean with a large variety of reptiles, birds and small mammals that all seem well cared for! You don't always get that in pet shops unfortunately. It's refreshing to see reptiles properly housed in clean enclosures. There are two large rabbits that roam the store that are very cool to pet and feed. Sometimes with these types of shops the animals they're trying to sell feel like a product and not something that needs to be cared for. I think if you by from this place you'll be buying healthy animals. Kudos to this shop!

Great locally owned establishment. They take good care of their animals, they keep a variety of reasonably priced products for any animal genre. Just visiting is like going to a small zoo. Over the years they've had giant fish, snapping turtles, tortoises, pythons, giant rabbits, lizards, chameleons, and even a ring tailed Lemur. The less ornery ones even wander the shop. I enjoy asking the tortoise questions about aquarium equipment like hes a helpful employee. Just watch out buying aquarium plants, theyre healthy, but you might have some snail stragglers. (Two years later I still find them in my tank and thats on me for not quarantining properly)

Knowledgeable staff, wide variety of pets you can adopt, good prices and a well taken care of store. The four legged staff (the 2 giant rabbits)are friendly but a bit lazy, and the knowledgeable staff of the four legged variety(the tortoise) is bit on the slow side. Don't expect much to be accomplished quickly. All joking aside we love this place and the owner is super helpful. Could not recommend this place enough.

A beloved neighborhood staple! Not sure how anything negative could be said about this place. They have such a beautiful ambiance, caring staff, and just about everything you need for your pet. You can even play with some of the animals there!

We just picked up a hedgehog 3 days ago and i have to to say, its been a great experience. Our hedgie seems very well socialized and active. The "starter pack" offered everything we needed except a wheel. Setup and comfort for our little friend was fast and seemed easy. The pet store employees seemed enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Commenting on price is irrelevant to the experience but important to people considering this particular pet, that being said she was 400 dollars with the starter kit. 250 for the pet and 150 after taxes for the starter kit. We got, as far as our research showed, a suitable sized enclosure, bedding, a hide, food, food dish, and water bottle. They also directed us to a local vet who can treat our hedgehog should we need. Its early on but I cant think of a reason not to go to Lous for your pet needs.
