McLain State Park is a beautiful place with a nice beach, known as a beautiful spot to watch the sunset. The park offers a large grassy area with volleyball, a playground, and a large covered pavilion and picnic areas great for gatherings. The campground is described as great, quiet, and family oriented, with some nice secluded sites, though many sites are small. Visitors should note the beach has flies in the summertime. The campground was closed to campers, with planned construction work, and currently has no electricity or water hookups in some sections. It is noted for having excellent staff and being dog-friendly.
Beautiful place to watch the sunset. Don’t recommend the beach in the summertime unless you love getting ate up by flies! It’s still a good experience though, I still went just not to swim.
