They usually have what I need! Only 4 stars because I feel like they are commission salesmen in there. I understand being friendly and even being required to say hello. However, when I am after one thing and visibly on a mission and get stopped FOUR TIMES by employees making sure I am finding everything ok....the answer is well I would be if I could just get there without stopping to chit chat! The good news is that this store is actually staffed with enough help LOL

Came in to buy a few miscellaneous bolts, nuts, and washers. When we were checking out Jessica was extremely rude, used inappropriate language and just overall made my experience an awful one to remember. Jessica should not work in a position where she interacts with customers, because this was extremely unprofessional.

** My complaint is with Ace not this store. I should have bought all of my building supplies from Menards. I would have gotten hundreds of dollars back in rebates. I don't like spending hundreds of dollars for a company that sends me intermittently chimpy $5 coupons. I should have gotten a lot more coupons. Now you only get $5 off IF you purchase $20+ in order to use them. No thanks. Menards is better.

It's a giant store with everything from hardware to gifts. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. It's our go-to place for our plumbing, painting, pool, and gardening projects.

I stopped in last week to have a 5 gallon bucket of paint mixed at the paint department. I waited for 2 or 3 minutes for a department member to arrive.
I stated what I needed and first question they ask was, did you buy it here?
I answered no and ask if I could pay for the service, she said no again. She made a call on her walkie talkie and then asked me if it had been open, I said yes
I removed the plastic plug to inspect the condition of the paint. She still said no.
I walked out shaking my head and realized I've brought 3 pieces of power equipment in for service that I didn't buy at Hastings Ace Hardware, but they were real happy to fix those.
In the last 3 years I've built 2 houses and a Pole barn and have tried to use local businesses to supply these projects. I'm done with Ace Hardware in Hastings.
