Veldheer Tulip Gardens is a popular destination during the annual tulip festival in May, offering a large and beautiful display of colorful tulips in full bloom. Visitors often note that the gardens are bigger and more impressive than expected, with many different species of tulips to see. The gardens are well maintained and easy to walk through, providing a pleasant experience despite some areas appearing run down or not as well-kept as hoped. There is a garden store and another shop with nick nacks, though prices tend to be high. Some visitors felt the entrance fee of $17 was expensive compared to other attractions, and there were concerns about confusing exit routes and limited parking. Weather conditions can affect the display, and there have been some issues with staff communication regarding the tulips’ peak bloom time. Overall, the gardens offer a nice experience with friendly staff, but the high prices and maintenance issues have been noted by some visitors. Despite challenges, the tulips and the tradition of the festival remain a highlight of the experience.
We came in off season, but was able to go into the garden store and buy some unusual looking tulips!

My favorite place in Michigan during this time of the year.

It's an amazing place to visit. When we did pull up, there were 4 tour busses in their spots, but it wasn't bad. They left an hour before closing. The best time to arrive early when they open.
