I was treated with such disrespect by the elderly woman working at the gate. Im on vacation from California wanted to come check out the campgrounds this evening. This woman accused me of being homeless and just wanting a shower even though I have the wreck pass and Michigan plates. I cannot believe the audacity of a person like that to accuse and belittle me over her completely wrong assumption. I hope this woman is reprimanded and placed in a position where she does not have to deal with humans because she did not give me the respect of dog deserves. Excuse me for wanting to come and look at the campgrounds lady you are way out of line and how dare you and shame on you. You only get two stars now because there was a young gentleman that had manners and knew how to communicate in the normal civilized manner.

This Campground is where McDermott Estates was located between 1969-1974. Our family purchased the property after our Father died in 1969. We lived there beginning in 1958 and attended school in Ortonville, Mi. there was a total of 80 acres owned by the state that included Wildwood Lake, that bordered our property to McGinnis Road. our property bordered Wildwood Road McGinnis Road and If you notice a faint line to the spring fed Lake. As kids groing up we worked a garden the size of a football field, we fished what is now Oakland County Parks and Recreation by Grange Hall Road and McGinnis Road. Doctor Matthews owned that property and Was converted to the present day Park by Jackie Wilson (/Harmon/Lucas) about 1963 and installed first Juke Box. 18 pt. Bucks, white tail, snow shoe rabbitt, pheasants and Turkeys, large mouth Bass, perch, Northern Pike, Muskie, Cat Fish, plenty to keep a country boy busy year round.

Beautiful scenery, not too many bugs. Port-a-Potties aren't that bad.

The outhouses smelled terrible! I've dealt with a lot of outhouses, but you could hardly stand these.

One of the best State parks in the area! Great for swimming, and even better for hiking year round.
