Fresh good products. Can get crowded there when it's busy. Service was fine. A little miscommunication with another customer and a employee. The ladies behind the counter were making faces and rolling their eyes. Kinda rude.

Excellent market. Best one we found in the area. Superb deli, with many house made specialties. I loved the spinach & crab salad. Endless local products, produce, sausages, jellies, etc. We were surprised to find the selection of sea food. Lots of ethnic foods too! A little but of everything. Definitely a treasure trove of food products.

We specifically stopped there for candied jalapeños. We were very pleased with their vegetable selection. It was outstanding.

What a fantastic place. Excellent service, a fun shopping experience filled with unique food and tourist stuff, plus amazing ice cream. Stores like RJ's are what makes "up north" a memorable experience. Can't say enough about how nice everyone was and how great the cone tasted.

This is my favorite deli in Houghton Lake. We have been coming here regularly for the past 5 years. They can be very busy but it is 100% worth the wait. They have excellent brats and the BEST homemade feta dip. The feta dip is a must buy, and is their top seller. They have a quaint selection of other Michigan made products as well. If you're looking for a great spot to get items for a cookout or a weekend dinner, this is your best place to go for quality items.

R&J's, which I tend to refer as RJ's, has become my go to place for quality meats and unique food items--pierogies, Kowalski kielbasa, huge pies, etc. I stopped this time around to pass time waiting for a medical appointment. I wound up buying items from both stores--meat market and the West Shore store. Meat Market: Mom loves bagel chips and they always have them in stock unlike the brand name store in town. I love pastrami and RJ's had it in stock--again unlike...you get the picture. Although I must admit that pastrami is hard to find anywhere. Why is that? Bought some cherrywood smoked deli ham, cherry brats, baby Swiss deli cheese, bagels (although I know already that I must lower my expectations cause this Long Island NY raised girl can be a little snobbish about bagels), and a loaf of butter bread. I have no clue what butter bread is but in my mind it screams "French toast". The lady helping me at the meat counter was very friendly and helpful. As she cut the deli meats and cheese she was methodical to get each item as close as possible to my half pound requests. The same person checked me out at the register. I'm always greeted with a smile and a leave with a "have a nice day" farewell. I absolutely love small local businesses and patronize them every chance I get. At the West Shore store there was no way in hell I was walking out without some of the most beautifully gigantic strawberries. Mom said they are delicious. Add to that a quarter watermelon, bag of blue corn chips (my favorite) and a jar of peach salsa. Yum yum yum! There are a lot of items packed into these stores. Sometimes maneuvering can be a challenge especially on weekends when the down-staters come up. Fortunately, the stores always neat and well organized. They definitely make efficient use of space and it always s feels fresh and clean inside--once again unlike the brand name places in town.

Best subs in town at great price. If you're looking for something different for lunch I highly recommend.
