Definitely making sure to put them on blast....they tell you they can help but then days before court they tell you no....as a veteran this upsets me ....I have donated many times ...never again ...and I will spread the word

Hard to be positive about something you've donated to your entire career and then when you need help they wont help. Multiple people at my employment have needed assistance only to be turned down. Not worth the donation.

They are suppose to be helpful yet they don't even answer their phones!! What is the purpose of organizations if Not to answer their phones and be helpful?

All of the good reviews are from years ago and I definitely see why. I’ve been emailing someone for 2 months now before I was denied services. I finally call, Tonya answers in what sounds like she was laying in bed with the tv blasting. In my email, it says a household of 3 (myself and my 2 children under age 7) have to bring in over $41,000 in order to qualify for assistance… calculate that, I have to carry a job making over $21/hr before they can assist you… I’m not understanding helping someone that brings in that much money that you would think WOULDNT need help before a mother who schedule is part time because of no sitter. Our luxury hotel downtown doesn’t offer a pay rate that high. Moving forward, I bring up how my friend applied, who works at the same facility as me that I can assure even working overtime she doesn’t make nearly that much, received assistance from one of their workers and her balance was paid in full. Tonya tells me, we don’t offer that “extra funding” to everybody. And we “don’t have funds now to give you, until you bring in more money you’re denied” …. What a Joke. They pick and choose who they help at this location. Good luck getting assistance. And if you do, where do you work? A factory? Construction, maybe? I’m clearly looking at the wrong jobs in Kalamazoo. $21/$22hr jobs are never listed.P.S. that extra funding isn’t advertised or told to anyone (from my knowledge). Only reason it was spoke on is because I had proof someone else didn’t qualify and still received assistance.

My name is Barry Jones.I spoke to Serena Rodwell about a month ago. After explaining to her that I was employed, none drinker or drug user and had been given a 30 day notice to move, she helped me.At first I got the impression that it was another wasted call, because I had filed bankruptcy,I had an eviction on my credit from 5 years ago and I've only been on my job less than a year.I had very little or no hope with those circumstances. Mrs.Rodwell didn't shun me off or anything like that. She actually continued talking to me like I was a family member or very close friend. She thought of some places and people that could possibly help, but then it didn't seem likely because of stipulations with most.So after it appeared we were at a dead end and we were about to hang up,she said these words. You know what? I know a man that like helping people and he just might be able to help you.Let me see if I have his number. And she found Brian Bey number and suggest I gave him a call. And so it is today, about a month later, with much less than perfect credit, short time on the job,and very little money.I'm closing on a three bedroom, three bathroom, two car garage, move in ready Condo on Friday.I never confessed to be a religious man,but I've always believed that anything is possible with God.I know for sure that my past has many, many flaws and unfortunate circumstances, but I decided a long time ago to do the right things, for the right reasons, even when no one was looking. Now my kids who had lost faith and confidence in me,has been cheering me on,and respecting me like I always dreamed of.And although I don't have furniture or any of the things I need to function right now.I know God will provide me everything I need as He did this amazing place, through the help of some selfless people I didn't even know.So thank you Mrs.Rodwell and Brian Bey,you guys rock!!!! Now let me get back to work,I have a mortgage to pay.God Bless You!
