Rented a car for business, 5 days. I had to extend to give my customer prolonged service. I got charged more than double the rate because I extended. I will not use that rental location or Avis again.

The car was nice and drove nicely (Chevy equinox), BUT they have a business practice that's antiquated. Charging for over100 miles per day (30 cents per mile). On a 5 day rental (given credit for 7 days of milage (700), I wound up with 700+ extra miles. This is VERY unusual in Avis (and the industry today), and should be explained plainly at the time of reservation (not in fine print buried in a bunch of other very fineprint). I drove 2 hours to get a car to find this out (oh and they're particular about which credit cards they'll accept...no debit card). I drove 2 hours to get a car for a necessary trip and expected the Avis policy of milage we've had at dozens of locations in airports and store fronts all over the country for literally at least 15 years. They smile in your face and act like it's common. It's not and should be clearly specified in huge lettering on the website.

Rented a car for my husband, Mary was extremely sweet and very helpful! I needed to extend the rental past the due date and she made sure we were taken care of and on our way very quickly. Every experience I have had with rental agents in the past has been awful, they are often times rude and very short-tempered. Other rental agents should really aspire to be more like Mary.

Will never use Hertz after the pleasure of dealing with Avis.

Avoid renting from this avis location. It's privately owned and will do anything to get an extra dollar out of the contract. The manager acts more like a detective with false accusations

Paid "name brand" rental rate for a "rent-a-wreck" car. Black 2013 Impala with 78,000 miles on it - if your're lucky enough to get this gem... wheel bearing is about to go, hope you're not too far away when it does. Traction control also kicked in during normal acceleration from a stop on dry road... maybe time to retire this one? Good service agent was the only reason for getting any stars... (March 2019)

Thank you so much to TJ at the Avis in Iron Mountain! I had to return home for a funeral and reserved a vehicle with Avis online about 2 weeks ahead of time. A few days before we were set to fly in to the Iron Mountain airport I called and asked if the vehicle we had reserved was 4WD. It wasn't...but TJ told me he would make sure I had 4WD since I had to drive an hour from Iron Mountain to get to our destination. When we landed we got our keys and went out to the car just to find out we didn't all fit with our luggage. TJ was so accommodating! There was a Chevy Suburban that was just returned and he offered that to us...which was absolutely perfect! It handled great in the snow!

It was located in the airport. While I did not rent a car, they were polite.

Here at Iron Mountain Avis, we sincerely apologize for any bad previous experiences that you may have had. I am the new customer service manager now, and am working on making experiences like these a thing of the past. We do have a few older cars in our fleet yet, but are continually working on updating them. Safe travels everyone!

Unbelievable scam artists. Tried to charge me for smoking in a 40,000 mile car I picked up from another Avis. I don't smoke. The car was crappy and smelly, yes, but not my fault. Had to fight with the girl to refund the $250 dollar charge "detail" charge. They wouldn't even look at the car with me. They waited for me to get on my plane, then sent me a bill. Think twice or three times before dealing with these people. Chad, Angie, Rihanna are all in on it as is Kubick Aviation Services. Make sure to use a credit card that you can dispute the charges, because these people are evil.

Professional scam artists. Got the same falling apart chevy impala the other reviewer mentioned. Drove it 19mi over a 24h time, they checked it and all was ok only to call later and say there's a chip in the interior vinyl and charged my credit card an extra 100$+ From now on we'll stop flying to IMT since they're the only rental company there and start flying to Green bay and renting cars there.

I was given a Chevy Impala with almost 50,000 miles and well-worn tires for a weekly rate of $479.49. On the third day of my rental it snowed and I decided to take the car back and get something with better traction. I was told that I had to end my present contract and take out a new contract for a different car. To make a long story short, I ended up paying $659.33 to rent a car for a week. I won't fly into Iron Mountain again until there is another option for a car rental.
