“Several years ago I volunteered at Mackenzie’s with my grandma and sister. It was a great place to be and they were very beginner-friendly. It is evident that Mackenzie’s staff and volunteers truly care about the dogs’ health, happiness and safety. In late 2016 my family finally decided to adopt our dog Brooklyn! She was a very skittish, anxious puppy (due to prior abuse, at no fault of MAS) but she has come such a long way and is living her best life now! She is now almost 8 years old and it has been such a joy living life with her! We have been out of contact with Mackenzie’s ever since simply due to our busy lives, but I highly recommend adopting through them! They provide lots of helpful guidance and have a smooth process of in-shelter visits as well as home visits before the adoption is official. As a bonus, adoption cost is only a couple hundred from what I remember. I can’t say for certain if they’ve changed or not in the last 8 years, but I know they were a huge blessing to our family and of course the countless dogs they rescue!”
