"Village Cheese Shanty," famous for its gourmet sandwiches and wide variety of cheeses. The average price per meal is around $5 to $10.

This is a must visit if you are in the area. The North Shore (the pretzel bun is unique and incredible) and the Log Jam are our favorite. The place is cash-only so be sure you have some ready when you arrive. You also have to pay for parking and cell service can be spotty so prepare for that potential complication.

Sandwiches have great flavors and fresh ingredients but the bread is too much. It takes over the sandwich and the flavors get lost. Still a great place for a sandwich though.

The cutest little sandwich shop in Leland. We both loved our sandwiches and almost ordered a second to take home with us too! Cash only, great selection.

Best sandwich I've ever eaten in my life. When we came 15mins before close, (we live 5hrs away, and came to Leland 30mins from where we were staying in sleeping bear just for these sandwiches) they refused to serve us. Most disappointing moment of our trip :(They also don't take card. Great food, awful business practice. As if they don't want our business

Hands down best sandwich I’ve ever had! They make the bread fresh each day and the ingredients are fresh and so tasty! Def make sure you stop here! The pretzel bread is delish!! It’s located near the water, so relaxing to sit and eat and then check out the other unique shanties!

Delicious sandwiches made by kind people in a beautiful setting supporting a historical gem. You can't ask for better. But also heady cheeses to go!

After moving to Colorado, I have dreamed about going back to the Cheese Shanty. After four years, I finally made it back this season and it was better than ever! The pretzel bread was exactly as I remembered. The Lake Street is my go too for the pretzel bread and herb mayo.

Waited over an hour for a sandwich. It's definitely not worth it.

We would give this place 6 stars if we could. Their food is beyond delicious and the value of your meal is great. The bagged lunches are the best. We drive a couple hours each year to get lunch here and visit fish town. One of our favorite things is to bring our dog and walk around town. Get a bagged lunch from the cheese shanty and sit on the docks watching people fish and eat our lunch. It's such a fun relaxing place to be and the people are always incredibly friendly. If you are within an hour or two of here I'd highly recommend making the trip.

We got bagged lunches for our trip over to South Manitou island. We ordered the day before and they had them ready for us the next morning. The sandwiches were huge! They came with a dill pickle in a ziplock, bagged chips, a bottled drink and a cookie. They do not take credit card and only cash or check so be prepared. The sandwiches were loaded and were very good. We had the North Shore and Log Jamb on pretzel bread.

I expected more. My sandwich mostly tasted of bread.
