Was in the area and thought why not give this local place a chance. Figured it’s always good to give back to the local businesses. But I’ll stick with Leo’s or Big Boy from now on. For the price $14 dollars for an omelette, I was expecting to get something that would stand out and wow me. It was just a grease drenched mess that looked like no one put any effort into plate presentation nor thought a flavor profile would be what could actually justify the price. Which normally wouldn’t bother me since ever moving back to Michigan it seems to be the standard that food doesn’t have flavor or seasoning to it. Just bland food. Kinda like something you would get from your high school cafeteria as a kid. I can look past the no flavor as long as the service is above average. In this case, from standing in line to pick my food up, I could see that customer services isn’t the standard at the Lennon Cafe. The moment I walked in I wasn’t greeted with a hello but instead I was greeted with can’t you read the sign. Wait to be seated. In which I said I had a pick up order. Then the one server instructed me to stand in an area while I wait for me food. Only for another Server to walk around the corner and tell me to me move out of the way. When it was my time to pick my food up, I mentioned the name that order was under. The individual (not sure of their name since they did not have a name tag on) [will just say they look like a cheaper rundown version of Snookie from Jersey Shore that may stay under the The Steel Pier] was talking to me in a low voice and not looking at me while they were talking to me, snapped back and got loud and said what are you looking at? Then proceeded to tell everyone around her what is this guys problem he is looking at me. And starts laughing. I’m sorry but for someone that has hearing problems and is deaf in one ear, it helps to look at someone talking to me so I can read their lips and understand what they are saying. I can state I was rather taken back that someone that works in customer service even more so works for tips would do something like that when all I was doing was to try reading your lips since this person doesn’t have the common courtesy to look at the person they are talking to. To make things even worse, I used contactless payment (which Lennon Cafe google review says they accept that type of payment) and the individual behind the counter grew upset and said “I only do cash” and told me if I’d want to use contactless payment then I can walk around the counter and do it myself! I understand that everyone has their bad days and may have things going on in their personal lives. But to be flat out rude for no apparent reason to some is just uncalled for. I’ll be sure to let all my friends that are hard of hearing know to stay away from this establishment. Might let anyone I know that falls under ADA to stay clear of this place so they don’t have to be signaled out for any condition that they may have and be embarrassed beyond belief. It’s a real shame, it’s to the point that I don’t take my family out to eat anymore cause it seems that being a guest to an establishment is a burden to those that work in those establishments and have that sense of entitlement. I just hope you never have to deal with being hard of hearing or have any other medical conditions that are out of your control. Never filled one of these reviews out before but figured others in my situation should be warned about the Lennon Cafe.

The food was great. Homemade bread makes excellent toast. Alenah, was a great server. She even provided a bandaid from her purse, when we asked if they happened to have a spare in the first aid kit.

I recently moved to the area and have been here numerous times. Every single time I've tried something different and have yet to eat something I didn't like. Breakfast is great, especially the country ham and scrambled eggs. They make a great lemon pepper chicken for lunch. The best thing is the pie...it's to die for! Gotta get pie while you're in this place.
