The staff at America's Best were kind, courteous and professional! Definitely will be coming back again when I need glasses in the future.

After reading all the negative reviews on the Google maps, I was hesitant to go there with my wife, but we took a chance and I don't know why it has so many bad reviews the people were very hospitable patient polite. It was a good experience, and they took time to explain, whatever questions you had, my wife and I are both very satisfied with the visit today

EDIT 8/26/2023: I spoke with Crystal today (the wonderful Assistant Store Manager and my initial intake technician). She was extremely empathetic and I feel very secure in our compromise to try the doctors prescription first and if it doesn't work, she will speak with the doctor pertaining to my astigmatism and I can have them remade.I've been chronically ill with a condition called IIH (known as Pseudotumor Cerebri) and I've been to a lot of doctors' offices. I have never had such a genuine and caring medical professional in the 8 years I've been sick. I quite honestly cannot put into words how delightful it was to speak with her again after how well she treated me and my health the first time.I am updated my 1-star review to reflect this development and am censoring the employee's name from the original.Original Review:"I am very upset by the attitude of "(censored)" that checked me out. She was rude, unhelpful, and downright nasty.Upon arrival, the initial intake was exceedingly nice. The woman who did my images and astigmatism test was excellent. Kind, thoughtful, and overall exactly what is needed in the medical field. The doctor was lacking in concern/knowledge of my condition but he served the purpose I was there for. I see a specialist for my condition. My biggest issue is with my prescription. As I said, I received an astigmatism evaluation and was CONFIRMED to have it in both eyes. I brought this up specifically because I received glasses with astigmatism lenses before (2019) and they are extremely helpful when I drive at night. The woman who helped me (I wish I'd gotten her name - she deserves a raise), assured me that I wasn't insane, I do have an astigmatism. She was even able to determine the curve of it.I KNOW it is slight. But I also know that it IS possible to have it on the prescription no matter how 'unhelpful' it may be perceived as.The wonderful woman who did my initial imaging was assisting me in picking out glasses and was called away to help Dr. Hernandez. I decided that I didn't particularly like any of my options and given that I was doing this sans insurance (I have an HMO and would have needed a referral) I decided to purchase my glasses at a different time with my insurance. At check out, I asked if the astigmatism was on the prescription. "(censored)" very curtly said that I didn't have an astigmatism. And then explained 2020 vision like I was stupid. I requested to speak with the doctor before leaving and she rudely repeated that I didn't have an astigmatism and the doctor would've notated it. She also said that it comes and goes. I was upset at this point. She ignored my request to speak with the doctor and got up to get the receipt. She repeated again that I don't have an astigmatism. I told her I disagreed with what she was saying and that I'll just have to keep wearing glasses from 2019 to cope. And then I left. It's worth noting that I've developed nearsightedness in both eyes since 2019.I do not understand what the big deal was or why she was so curt. I had been told less than 20 minutes prior that I did have an astigmatism in both eyes - I was also given information that doctors don't always add it if it's "slight".I don't care what kind of bias doctors have about 'minute' or 'tiny' or things they perceive as 'insignificant'. It's MY money and I was very specifically told that I have an astigmatism at this office. I shouldn't have to pay for a whole new exam because one woman can't be bothered to actually care about people - I wasn't asking her to do anything. I was looking to sit in the waiting room to catch the doctor to explain that I know it is slight but that the prior glasses I've used ARE helpful and request that it be added to the prescription. But I was denied the opportunity to advocate for myself and treated like an uneducated child. This is unacceptable and I have contacted corporate.

The entire staff was professional. Clean cut and dry with no up sale scam. Wished the under eye no rimmed glasses didn't have to come with a more expensive lens but I doubt it is the staffs fault. Other than that It was quick and painless.

the secretaries are rude and the truth is that the times that I have gone always leave my glasses bad, it is better not to go

Me and my fiancé walked in (both black btw) the energy in the room was bad to start, then we walk up to the receptionist (white woman), didn’t really greet us, had an attitude and as soon as she found out that they don’t take my fiancés insurance she couldn’t wait to dismiss us. Most of downriver is full racist white trash with some weird superiority complex…. Very disturbing and offsetting.

My grandma went here on her own and spoke with Anita, who she said was very helpful. Anita gave her a card with the frames she liked and the price.I went back with her today just to make sure she got the right thing. When we walked in, no one greeted us, no one asked if we needed help. So when we needed, no one got up and insisted we needed to come to the counter so they can run her insurance. My grandma wasn’t using her insurance and had already priced her frame, she just couldn’t find the one she had previously liked. After some back and forth, I told her let’s just go and we’ll go to a different location. My grandma stopped to tell her how rude the staff was (I was just ready to go).A lady named Krystal came and assisted us and was very helpful. She turned the the visit around and really helped us out.

First time coming to this location, and I had a great experience. The Dr was nice and I felt taken care of. The girls working there I love lmao! Nikki, Krystal, and Ashlynn were so sweet to me! We had a great rapport, by the time I left we were all chatting and laughing! Even when I came to get my glasses it was a total vibe lol. Excited to see them again when I go and pick up my contacts

America's Best, Lincoln Park on Fort Street.I was in need of new contact lenses and went to this location, reluctantly, at the recommendation of family. The doctor let me know that no brand carries contacts in my prescription+astigmatism anymore, which I was aware of. So what do we do, doctor? Whatever you recommend. Apparently the solution was to send me home with a trial pair of lenses he knew I couldn't see out of. Also during my exam I gave him an answer to which he replied "it should be this", what kind of doctor does that? Is the exam for me or for him? That combined with sending me home with lenses he knew I wouldn't be able to see out of, how is that ethical? I went to SVS Vision in Allen Park and the doctor there informed me that they could order custom lenses for me. Why didn't they tell me this at America's Best? I thought the job of a doctor was to help people.

Staff Not friendly, felt hated. The Dr ignored my concerns of a floater in my eye which I still have. He pushes people through as fast as possible. I ordered my glasses and had them shipped to another state and the frames I got were not the same.

I had a 5:40 appointment and walked in a few minutes early to get checked in. The receptionist giggled and said the doctor left for the day already. No attempt to call me, no apology, very unprofessional. I would expect some sort of communication if my appointment was going to be cancelled. This was a huge waste of my time.

I got a call only 10 days after my appointment letting me know my glasses are in, and this was during the holidays. Quick service!! The doctor explained how my eyes were and no other doctor has done this!

I really hate leaving bad comments but the dr he needs to stop being so fast and learn to listen to the patient, he gave me the wrong prescriptions twice once with glasses and this year with contacts and the response was oh just wear them and get used to them. I finally asked for another dr she was awesome she was very polite and moved slower to let my eyes adjust the contacts she recommended was perfect unfortunately poor customer service has led me to cancel my order, I asked to ship to store because my information was incorrect not sure where they are. There needs to be diversity in there all women some are just rude and others are helpful even the office person needs better manners. I will not be returning to that location.
